Technical Product Manager

Versant Media's Content and Operations group is seeking a Technical Product Manager to join our teams. This role will report to the Manager of Technical Product and support the delivery of best-in-class tools and platforms that power the accurate, timely, and compliant ingest, fulfillment, scheduling, and distribution of our content across platforms and endpoints.

You'll serve as a core member of a cross-functional squad, driving solutions that unify asset readiness, scheduling coordination, compliance validation, and multi-platform delivery. Whether streamlining file ingest, supporting real-time schedule updates, or embedding metadata into downstream pipelines, your work will directly enhance the speed, accuracy, and scalability of Versant's content supply chain.

This role is ideal for product thinkers with hands-on experience in media workflows, a systems mindset, and a drive to reduce operational friction through technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Backlog Ownership: Define, refine, and prioritize product backlog items in alignment with strategic goals and operational needs.
  • Workflow Enablement: Gather requirements from ingest, QC, packaging, scheduling, traffic, playout, and partner management stakeholders; translate needs into actionable user stories that improve orchestration, and delivery.
  • Delivery Execution: Collaborate daily with engineers, designers, and QA to drive sprint planning, review, and execution.
  • Operational Support: Ensure enhancements support real-world content operations, including SLA monitoring, compliance checks, scheduling accuracy, and delivery-status visibility.
  • System Modernization: Contribute to the transformation from legacy tools to scalable, cloud-native solutions; help decompose monoliths into modular services.
  • Automation & Intelligence: Help embed intelligent automation into tooling—such as predictive schedule and fulfillment readiness, intelligent QC, metadata validations, and anomaly detection.
  • Documentation & Training: Maintain clear product documentation and support rollout of new features to operational users.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Interface with Product Managers, Analysts, and other Product Owners to coordinate dependencies and support seamless end-to-end workflow integration.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years in product ownership, product management, or technical project management—ideally in a media or broadcast operations environment.
  • Familiarity with content ingest, scheduling, playout, metadata packaging, or distribution tooling.
  • Strong backlog management skills, including user story writing, prioritization, and refinement.
  • Comfort with agile development tools like Jira, Confluence, and delivery planning frameworks.
  • Ability to translate complex operational needs into clear technical requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder facilitation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with tools and workflows across the content supply chain—such as ingest and packaging systems, scheduling and traffic platforms, metadata management tools, playout readiness solutions, or distribution orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience leveraging AI-powered tools (e.g., LLMs, copilots) to enhance product workflows—such as drafting user stories, enriching metadata, generating test cases, or identifying product insights.
  • Technical fluency sufficient to discuss implementation tradeoffs with engineering teams.
  • Product certifications (CSPO, SAFe POPM, etc.) are a plus.

Work Style & Culture

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Are energized by operational systems and real-world constraints.
  • Excel at collaborative delivery with engineers and business partners.
  • Are relentlessly curious and eager to simplify complexity.
  • Care deeply about the reliability of what you ship and how it supports critical workflows.

Additional Requirements:

  • On-site Requirement: This position has been designated needing to be in the office 2 - 4 times per month depending on business needs.
  • This role will require quarterly on-site collaboration weeks in New York City (NY) and Englewood Cliffs (NJ). Limited travel (<10%) to broadcast, vendor, or operations centers may be required.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Learn more about the benefits offered by NBCUniversal.
