Job Description

The Senior UX Designer will be able to guide the lead user experience strategy and execution for complex digital products. They will work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, developers, and researchers to translate user needs and business goals into intuitive, accessible, and impactful design solutions. This role combines hands-on design work with stakeholder collaboration and mentoring of junior designers.

Qualification Criteria/Work Experience

Essential:

• Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar - 5+ years /Priority 1
• Strong understanding of interaction design, usability principles, and information architecture -5+ years /Priority
• Ability to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs -5+ years /Priority 1
• Familiarity with accessibility (WCAG) and inclusive design principles -5+ years /Priority 1
• Strong communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences -5+ years /Priority 1
• User-centric mindset -5+ years /Priority 1
• Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities -5+ years /Priority 1
• Collaboration and facilitation within cross-functional teams - 5+ years /Priority 1

Desirable:

• Working knowledge of HTML/CSS for collaboration with front-end teams - 2+ years
• Experience with user research methods (e.g., usability testing, journey mapping) - 2+ years
• Familiarity with design systems (e.g., GOV.UK Design System, Material Design) -2+ years
• Understanding of service design principles -2+ years
• Workshop facilitation (e.g., Design Sprints, ideation sessions) -2+years

Overall Project/Task description Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead UX efforts across one or more digital products or services
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define user journeys, flows, and design goals
• Conduct or support user research and translate insights into design actions
• Produce wireframes, prototypes, and detailed UI designs that align with design systems
• Review and iterate on designs based on feedback and usability testing
• Support developers during implementation to ensure design quality
• Contribute to the evolution of design standards and best practices
• Mentor junior designers and support design team collaboration
• Challenge product requirements and stakeholders to ensure the most user-centric approach is taken
