Your new role As New Product Planning Lead β Maternity Cover within Novo Nordisk's Diabetes& Early Pipeline & External Innovation team, you will carry full commercial accountability for assigned assets across the entire Diabetes& pipeline β from novel insulin and disease-modifying diabetes platforms through to cardiovascular, renal, and inflammatory assets that sit at the frontier of cardiometabolic science. You will build the business cases that go to governance. You will validate Target Product Profiles with the HCPs and quantify their integration into the clinical workflow. You will map patient flows across primary care and specialist settings, model combination therapy opportunities, and ensure every asset you touch is built with a value proposition that works for patients, prescribers, and payers β across one of the most diverse and commercially significant disease portfolios in the pharmaceutical industry. You will have a unique opportunity to drive genuine strategic impact, build strong cross-functional relationships, and help ensure that breakthrough therapies reach patients for years to come.
Your responsibilities will include: Building business cases, risk-adjusted valuations, and indication sequencing models that feed directly into governance investment decisions across the cardiorenal and inflammatory portfolio Developing and validating Target Product Profiles through structured HCP interviews with leading cardiologists, nephrologists, endocrinologists, and specialist multi-disciplinary team members β challenging commercial thresholds against real clinical practice Mapping patient flows, referral networks, care transitions, and novel biomarker adoption dynamics to identify commercial opportunities and portfolio gaps β including for asymptomatic and subpopulation-targeted strategies Ensuring product strategies reflect the access realities of specialist and hospital settings β formulary dynamics, managed entry, pharmacist roles, and cardiovascular reimbursement pathways Contributing to RWE strategy design and applying real-world data assets to sharpen forecasting and commercial planning Supporting Business Development assessments with commercial perspective on asset fit and value creation potential
The contract runs until end of 2027. Your new department In Product & Portfolio Strategy we drive commercial strategy, medical affairs and business development across all therapy areas β acting as the connector between scientific innovation and commercial impact across the Novo Nordisk portfolio. The Diabetes& Early Pipeline & External Innovation team works at the frontier of cardiometabolic medicine β across novel modalities, biologies, and value propositions β in disease areas where the metabolic, cardiorenal, and inflammatory science and the commercial landscape are both evolving at pace. We challenge each other's thinking, share our work openly, and hold ourselves to the highest standards of analytical quality. We don't have all the answers β and we're looking for someone who finds that exciting rather than unsettling.
Your skills & qualifications We are looking for a commercially minded scientist or analyst with experience in diabetes, cardiorenal, or inflammatory disease who thrives in an autonomous, intellectually demanding environment and is ready to make an immediate impact across an exciting and diverse asset portfolio. You'll bring with you: A Master's or PhD in Economics or Business with strong natural science capabilities (Life Sciences PhD strongly preferred), or a Master's/PhD in Medicine, Biology, or Pharmacy with strong commercial understanding, or an advanced degree with a healthcare equity analyst or investment banking background 4β6 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in New Product Planning, global marketing, medical affairs, market access, or strategy consulting Disease area experience in Metabolic, Cardiovascular or Inflammatory disease areas, paired with strong financial modelling capability (discounted cash flows, scenario analysis, risk-adjusted valuations), built in pharma, consulting, or investment banking environments Experience in patient flow modelling, forecasting, and quantitative business case development Familiarity with clinical realities in these patient populations, including comorbidities, intervention in unstable cardiorenal patients, care transition optimisation, or novel biomarker strategies Comfort operating at the interface of clinical science and commercial strategy Ability to influence without formal authority in a complex matrix organisation Fluency in English
