Social Marketing Manager

OpenAI's mission is to ensure the responsible and widespread adoption of artificial intelligence. In support of that mission, the Marketing team helps deeply understand customer audiences and market dynamics, influence the development of the right products, build sustainable and customer-aligned monetization models, and drive awareness, adoption, and usage across OpenAI's products and platform.

We take a data-driven approach to understand markets, develop monetization strategies, and uncover customer needs that shape product strategy and messaging. We partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Comms, Sales, Partnerships and Design to deliver a cohesive end-to-end customer experience and lead go-to-market efforts for new product launches across channels.

We're hiring a Social Marketing Manager to lead OpenAI's social presence in Brazil across both consumer and business audiences.

In this role, you will define how OpenAI shows up in one of our most important international markets—shaping our voice, building locally relevant storytelling, and ensuring we move with speed, quality, and cultural fluency across platforms.

You will operate as both a strategic lead and hands-on builder: setting direction while also executing day-to-day work, especially in the early stages of building our Brazil social presence.

You will partner closely with global and local teams across product, research, communications, and marketing to bring our work to life in ways that resonate deeply with Brazil audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the development and execution of Brazil's social marketing strategy across priority platforms (e.g., X, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn), covering both consumer and business audiences.
  2. Operate as a hands-on social lead, managing day-to-day publishing, editorial planning, copywriting, and rapid response—especially around launches and key moments.
  3. Set up and scale social channels and systems from the ground up where needed, establishing strong foundations for long-term growth.
  4. Translate global priorities, product launches, and brand narratives into locally resonant social storytelling that reflects Brazil's cultural context.
  5. Lead high-visibility moments including product announcements, research updates, and company news—ensuring accuracy, quality, and alignment across teams.
  6. Partner cross-functionally with product, research, communications, marketing, and policy teams to align messaging and navigate nuanced or sensitive topics.
  7. Develop Brazil-first content ideas and formats that reflect local platform behaviors, internet culture, and audience dynamics.
  8. Support creator and influencer collaborations, helping shape briefs and ensure content is culturally relevant and high quality.
  9. Monitor Brazil social trends and conversations, identifying opportunities to engage, differentiate, or escalate when appropriate.
  10. Define and track performance metrics, continuously optimizing content strategy and execution based on learnings.
  11. Scale social output over time by identifying and managing agency or external partner support.

You Might Thrive In This Role If You:

  • Have deep experience in social marketing and a strong understanding of the Brazil digital and cultural landscape.
  • Are comfortable operating as both a strategist and an operator, able to move from idea to execution quickly.
  • Demonstrate strong judgment on tone, nuance, and what resonates (or doesn't) with Brazil audiences.
  • Can translate complex or technical topics into clear, engaging, and human storytelling.
  • Have experience working across global and local teams, balancing alignment with local relevance.
  • Bring a builder mindset and are comfortable creating structure, systems, and momentum in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to define how OpenAI shows up in Brazil—one of our most important and nuanced markets.

You will have real ownership in shaping our social voice, building locally relevant storytelling, and helping the company move with more speed, creativity, and cultural fluency in market.

For someone who understands Brazil deeply and cares about both internet culture and product storytelling, this role offers rare scope and impact.
