Job Description

We are seeking a motivated CAD Technician with up to 2 years of experience who is proficient in AutoCAD. The candidate will support design and engineering teams by producing, modifying, and organizing technical drawings under guidance. This is an entry-level role, ideal for someone who wants to build experience in drafting, drawing documentation, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Produce and modify 2D technical drawings (plans, sections, elevations, details) in AutoCAD as per given sketches or design briefs.
  • Assist senior CAD staff / engineers by developing drawing sets from rough sketches, markups, or field measurements.
  • Maintain drawing standards, layers, blocks, x-refs, viewports, layout/printer settings etc., as per company/project standards.
  • Prepare and manage CAD files, ensuring proper naming, filing/version control, archiving.
  • Convert drawings between formats (e.g. DWG, DXF, PDF) and ensure compatibility.
  • Take part in basic 3D modeling tasks, if necessary.
  • Incorporate feedback, revisions, redlines from reviewers into drawings.
  • Assist in preparing drawings for tender / construction / fabrication / shop drawings (as applicable).
  • Coordinate with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to clarify drawing requirements and resolve inconsistencies.
  • Ensure drawings comply with relevant standards / codes / quality & documentation protocols.
  • Support site-visit or field verification of measurements when needed.
  • Learn and apply best practices; keep up-to-date with AutoCAD features, efficiency techniques

Qualifications

  • Diploma / Certificate in Drafting, Mechanical / Civil / Architectural Engineering, or equivalent; or relevant hands-on experience.
  • 0-2 years of working experience in CAD drafting using AutoCAD.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD: understanding of layers, blocks, x-refs, model space / paper space, dimensioning, annotation, layout & plotting.
  • Basic understanding of technical / engineering drawings, reading blueprints, interpreting sketches.
  • Good attention to detail; accuracy in drawing output.
  • Basic familiarity with file management and version control.
  • Good communication skills; ability to follow instructions and collaborate.
  • Time management: able to meet deadlines and handle assigned tasks reliably.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office etc.).
