What You Will Do

The on-site Engine Life Management Team (ELMT) at Columbus Engine Center has an opening for a Design Engineer Intern providing aftermarket support of the geared turbofan (GTF) fleet. The role of this position is to function as an onsite extension of Engineering, supporting Repair/Limits Design and engine investigation.

  • Direct interfacing opportunities with engineering management, program management, aftermarket suppliers and engine shops.
  • Design support of Limits and Repair tasks.
  • Onsite representation of the CIPT supporting engine/hardware investigations and dispositions.
  • Coordinate and lead resources to meet technical, development and production requirements
  • Monitor and trend hardware health for limit updates, product improvement, and repair task activities.
  • Liaise between engine shops, Customer Technical Services (CTS), Engine Services, etc., regarding investigation scope and implementation. Prepare and present status and technical content to CIPT and upper Pratt & Whitney management.
  • Work closely with IPT members and authorities on hardware field investigations to drive root cause and recommend product improvements.
  • Coordinate evaluation of customer inquiries and operational hardware non-conformances.
  • 10% travel required.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Enrolled in a degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience in Unigraphics/NX, or equivalent 3D modeling software, is a plus.
  • Experience collaborating with a team to develop innovative ideas
  • Experience communicating clear and effective messages to a broad audience
