Product Assurance (Pa) Lead

The Product Assurance (PA) Lead provides support for upholding New Product Introduction (NPI) for Raytheon, which drives predictability in ensuring products that transition to production will meet production performance. As such, you will serve as a Subject Matter Experts (SME), from Start-up through Development and into early production, to provide the expertise, guidance and management when transitioning a design/capability to production to align to the defined product maturity to achieve cost, schedule, technical and quality objectives for programs and product line. You will oversee maturity and readiness of Raytheon Products to identify and ensure opportunities to effectively transition products to production and align to cross-program best practices with their PA SBU peers.
As a member of Engineering and Sustainment Quality Assurance (ESQA), you will provide program execution in accordance with RTX's Quality Management System (QMS), which is based on AS9100/ISO 9001. As the Product Assurance Lead, you will work closely with the Design for Excellence (DFX) Leads out of the Office of the Chief Engineer, as well as align to NPI Leadership Team, Engineering, Program Quality, and Program Management.
Your work scope will include performing NPI Assessments, providing SME support the PQLs, PMs, and the DFX Leads, and collaborating with design teams to optimize design producibility. PA also supports planning and execution of key NPI and AS9145 elements such as: Critical Item Identification, FMEAs, Special Characteristics, Design for Excellence, PPAP, TRL/MRL, and AUPC.
This is an onsite role in Tucson, AZ.
What You Will Do
- Collaborate with the Office of the Chief Engineer and DFX Lead as the NPI Quality Lead to define steps necessary to implement Quality strategies and assess transition to production capabilities.
- Provide NPI support to Programs performing NPI Assessments of Requirements, Design to Cost, Design Maturity, Supply Chain Management (SCM), Manufacturing, and Program Management.
- Mitigate gaps in the above assessments in conjunction with Programs pertaining to TRLs, MRLs, DFXs, FMEAs, and APQP execution.
- Influence design producibility with the design team & suppliers during product development, including supporting early producibility trade studies, supporting producibility assessments, and documenting producibility risks.
- Support the identification of Special Characteristics on the Technical Data Package (TDP) from DFMEA / PFMEA outputs. Ensure proper use and execution of FMEA reuse libraries to leverage established knowledge on prior Programs.
- Influence product and major subsystems design to an established cost requirement through cost reduction initiatives (CRIs) related to the Design to Unit Production Cost (DTUPC) with the design team.
- Support planning and execution of AS9145 (APQP / PPAP) as it pertains to NPI and transition to production activities to ensure quality of elements of AS9145.
- Support optimization of the product design for the planned manufacturing environment, including safe, highly repeatable & low defect manufacturing processes through Product & Process Safety, Quality, and Reliability.
- Perform root cause analysis, facilitate corrective actions, and implement closed loop process controls along with continuous improvement methods.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and ten (10) years of engineering experience in the following areas:
- Minimum of 10 years Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality experience in the aerospace and/or defense industry, or other highly regulated environment
- Working experience interpreting drawings/specifications, establishing requirements, and identifying risks & opportunities
- Working experience in root cause analysis, corrective / preventive actions
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Existing Secret Clearance or higher
- Transition to Production, AS9145, or New Product Introduction experience
- Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action (RCCA) expertise
- Prior Quality Engineering experience
- Certification in Six Sigma, CORE, or American Society for Quality (ASQ).
