Within the Propulsion Systems Division of Safran Aircraft Engines, you will join the methods and tools team and work on an innovative 3D tool that supports the installation of equipment on aircraft engines. Currently in an advanced prototyping phase, the tool aims to assist designers in positioning equipment (tanks, computers, valves, …) around the turbomachine, leveraging a rule engine and optimization algorithms. Your mission will be structured around three main axes: 1. Translating design practices into algorithmic rules. Working directly with the design engineers, you will formalize installation rules (separation, accessibility, preferred zones, routing…) and integrate them into the tool. This activity is at the core of the project's added value. 2. Continued development and enrichment of the optimizer. You will contribute to the evolution of the criteria, objectives, and penalties handled by the optimization algorithm, as well as to performance improvements. 3. Deployment to production. You will take part in stabilization, documentation, testing, and rollout of the tool to end users (designers and integration leads).
Engineering school student or equivalent university program (Bachelor's to Master's level), specializing in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, scientific computing, or applied mathematics. Technical skills: - Proficiency in Python (data manipulation, scientific computing) - Familiarity with software development practices (version control (Git), testing, documentation) - Knowledge of CAD and/or 3D geometry - Interest in algorithmics and optimization - Knowledge of web development or optimization algorithms would be a plus Personal qualities: - Autonomy and proactivity: ability to take over an existing codebase and propose solutions - Business curiosity: willingness to understand aircraft engine installation constraints in order to translate them into rules - Rigor: attention to detail and concern for code quality - Communication: regular exchanges with users to gather and formalize their needs - Basis of French and/or technical English is required (bilingual documentation possible)
An internship at the crossroads of engine engineering, software development, and algorithmics. You will contribute to a tool designed for engineers, with direct visibility on the impact of your work. A complete scope covering geometric modeling, optimization, and business dialogue with installation experts. A stimulating technical environment and close supervision, while leaving real autonomy in the conduct of the project. An opportunity to discover the engineering ecosystem of a leading aircraft engine manufacturer.
