Safran Aircraft Engines Mechanics Moissy-cramayel, Ile de France, France Internship / Student Full-time Vocational/Trade School First experience Student English Fluent
Safran Group is fully committed to decarbonizing the aviation sector to become ever more environmentally responsible. Within this context, the Propulsion Systems Engineering Departments at Safran Aircraft Engines identify and prepare the next generations of engine architectures and propulsion systems. By joining us, you'll have the opportunity to gain an overall understanding of propulsion systems and the key issues behind optimizing a new engine concept in the early stages, working within a multidisciplinary team. You'll be integrated into the Preliminary Project Mechanical Integration department, collaborating with various specialties (engine and aircraft performance, thermodynamics, aerodynamics, mechanics, dynamics, methods), as well as with module specialists (compressors, turbines, combustion chamber) to assess different architectures with a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary approach. Your work will be key in building the company's future successes. Initiative will be encouraged, and the development of new approaches and new tools will be of particular interest to the team. The internship will focus on creating or improving formulations for mass and dimensions for different engine components. Specifically, during the preliminary design phase, it is necessary to have analytical methods to predict the mechanical properties of various engine components before detailed geometric representations exist. These formulations will be developed from existing ones and/or from reference components, from which you will deduce evolutionary laws based on different parameters such as thermodynamic cycle parameters or aerodynamic channel properties. The targeted engine components notably include structural casings and combustion chambers for both civil and military engines. The goal of this internship is to understand the physics behind sizing these components across various engines, in order to derive relevant scaling laws. Through this internship, you will be able to: Analyze current modeling approaches and suggest improvements or simplifications to meet time/quality objectives Implement proposed solutions to define an industrial process Develop your skills in preliminary mechanical calculations Understand the mechanical principles related to propulsion system design Use and adapt internal tools and modeling to address the mechanical definition needs for the next generation of aircraft engines Present optimization results or modeling/tool developments to an engineering and expert panel
Currently in a general or specialized engineering school with a focus on mechanics or aeronautics Basic knowledge of mechanics, statics, and materials You are independent, methodical, curious, creative, and have a genuine passion for technology, along with the ability to take a step back and analyze the big picture Excellent adaptability in a multi-project and multidisciplinary team environment Technical knowledge of aircraft engines and experience with numerical simulations are a plus Don't tick all the boxes? Don't worry—our experts and teams will support you in areas where you want to develop.
On the bright side, you'll also enjoy: • A staff committee offering a wide range of social, cultural, and sports activities • Shuttle services between the Paris region/Paris and the Villaroche site • Concierge services • On-site gym • A verdant environment near a legendary airfield where French aviation history was written (jet prototypes, the beginning of the Mirage saga, etc.), and where you can relive this history at events like "Le Temps des Hélices" and "Air Legend" airshows
