Job Description

Within the Global Sustainability department, the Sustainability & Product Compliance Senior Manager F/H is responsible for ensuring that Salomon meets global regulatory requirements in sustainability and product compliance, material certification standards, and maintains a robust value chain traceability, while continuously developing the maturity of Salomon's Compliance Management System.

The position sits at the intersection of sustainability, product development, compliance, quality, legal, and sourcing, and plays a key role in ensuring product integrity, regulatory compliance, and sustainability credibility.

This position also includes supervising and developing a small team, as well as coordinating compliance governance at Salomon and Amer Sports levels.

You will work closely with Salomon's Product Business Units, Quality teams, the Legal department, as well as Amer Sports' Compliance and Sourcing teams. Depending on regulatory topics and projects, you will also collaborate with other functions such as Commercial, Marketing, and Logistics teams.

Main Objectives

  • Ensure robust compliance in sustainability and product regulation across all product categories.
  • Lead chemical substance management.
  • Strengthen value chain traceability and material certifications.
  • Develop and structure a mature Compliance Management System (CMS) at Salomon.
  • Enhance governance and cross-functional alignment within Salomon and with Amer Sports' Compliance & Sourcing teams.

Main Responsibilities

1. Sustainability & Product Compliance and Regulations Management

  • Define, implement, and continuously improve sustainability and product compliance standards and processes
  • Ensure that materials, components, and finished products comply with applicable global regulations
  • Conduct regulatory surveillance and assess potential risks and impacts on Salomon products
  • Perform targeted regulatory surveillance in connection with Salomon's product categories and business models, in addition to group-wide surveillance
  • Translate regulatory requirements into clear implementation plans for Salomon and oversee their execution

2. Chemical Substances Management

  • Lead the management of chemical substances in products and materials
  • Act as a subject matter expert on chemical compliance and restricted substances
  • Oversee the evaluation and reduction of risks associated with chemical substances and processes
  • Collaborate with Materials, Innovation, and Quality teams to balance performance, compliance, and sustainability

3. Value Chain Traceability

  • End-to-end traceability of the value chain
    • Support the deployment of end-to-end traceability requirements and plans at the material and product level, in alignment with Amer Sports' traceability plan and key internal stakeholders (sourcing, materials, product, IT, etc.)
    • Support supply chain mapping and identify risks, gaps, and priorities related to traceability
    • Contribute to the development of robust traceability and chain of custody processes ("chain of custody") ready for audit
    • Ensure the integrity, quality, consistency, reliability, structuring, and maintenance of traceability data in systems, tools, and processes
    • Support the efficiency, alignment, and proper use of PLM, compliance, and traceability systems
    • Maintain audit-ready documentation and reporting
    Certification materials & chain of control
    • Manage material certification schemes
    • Ensure chain of control ("chain of custody") compliance with suppliers and production sites
    • Monitor the scope, validity, documentation, and audit preparation of certifications
    • Support the strategic deployment and scaling of certified materials within product lines
    Exploit traceability data to support impact measurement and credibility of claims, in collaboration with Sustainability Tools & Data and Communication teams

4. Compliance Management System & Maturity Development

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve Salomon's Compliance Management System (CMS).

Develop and maintain:

  • Compliance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Clear roles, responsibilities, and governance.
  • Processes for identifying, escalating, and mitigating risks.
  • A roadmap for continuous maturity improvement.
  • A culture of compliance within Salomon (processes, tools, knowledge, and mindset).

5. Governance, Coordination & Representation

  • Internal governance Salomon
    • Lead and animate the Salomon Sustainability & Product Compliance Working Group.
    • Ensure alignment between Product, Sustainability, Quality, Legal, and Supply Chain teams.
    Représentation Amer Sports
    • Act as the contact point and representative of Salomon within the Amer Sports Product Compliance Network.
    • Represent Salomon in traceability projects driven by Amer Sports sourcing.
    • Contribute to group standards, tools, best practices, and governance instances.
    • Ensure effective two-way alignment between Amer Sports requirements and their implementation at Salomon.

6. Team Supervision & Skills Development

  • Supervise and mentor a small team of direct collaborators
  • Support the development of skills and knowledge sharing within the organization

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge

  • More than 10 years of experience in product compliance, sustainability, materials, or responsible product development (Apparel, Footwear, or Outdoor equipment) in comparable industries such as outdoor, sports, automotive, or pharmaceutical.
  • Strong expertise in product compliance, with either dedicated compliance experience or a hybrid profile combining legal and product.
  • Strong expertise in sustainability, responsible supply chains, product regulation, chemical compliance, and material risk management.
  • Proven ability to work with material certification systems and chain of control requirements, as well as a solid understanding of traceability systems.

  • You are capable of working in collaboration and building strong working relationships between teams, including with different stakeholders, Quality, and Legal functions, while contributing to solving problems, supporting compliance initiatives, and fostering positive outcomes for all parties.
  • You are process-oriented and capable of prioritizing tasks effectively, ensuring that work is completed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with established standards and processes.
  • You are a critical thinker who gathers information from various sources, analyzes situations carefully, and exercises good judgment to solve problems and support decision-making.

Desired Qualifications

  • Education: Degree in Textile, Material Science, Product Engineering, Sustainable Development, or a related field.
  • Languages: Fluent in French and English.
