Lead Product Manager

We are looking for a Lead Product Manager to shape the strategy and drive execution for a zero-to-one product that helps researchers do consequential work on Scribd by cutting time to insight and turning findings into task-ready outputs across a library of 300M documents, serving 200M monthly users. You will design experiences where people do not just find documents, they understand them, pull together context from multiple documents, and produce shareable results with clear source traceability. In this pivotal role, you will help transform Scribd from a document destination into an AI-powered research engine, partnering closely with Design, UXR, Engineering, ML, and the Synthesis team, and grounding decisions in user insights, crisp strategy, and practical LLM know-how.

Success here means taking a zero-to-one bet from thesis to traction: set a clear vision and north star, pick metrics that reflect real progress, validate with fast experiments, and ship features that cut time to insight and produce shareable outputs with clear provenance. The ideal candidate blends design thinking, deep AI/LLM fluency, and seasoned product management; works closely with Design, UXR, Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, and ML; and has a record of taking zero-to-one products to adoption and scale. Your mix of long-range strategy and hands-on execution will shape how the world discovers, understands, and connects knowledge on Scribd.

You will / Responsibilities

  • Chart the zero to one strategy for Research Journey experiences from concept to scale, with tight alignment across adjacent product areas.
  • Partner with Machine Learning, Engineering, Applied Research, and the Synthesis team to bring document grounded insights into reading and workspace flows, shipping reliable production features with clear provenance.
  • Define the metrics that matter for the research journey, and connect them to conversion, retention, and LTV.
  • Balance short term wins with long term vision, delivering incremental improvements while building a durable research engine aligned with Scribd's three year AI strategy.
  • Fuse data with the voice of the customer, synthesizing experiment results, analytics, and user research to inform prioritization and design.
  • Communicate with clarity and influence, aligning product, engineering, design, content, and executive stakeholders on requirements, timelines, deliverables, and expected impact.

You have / Requirements

  • 7+ years of product management with senior IC ownership, including taking products from zero to one.
  • Demonstrated success shipping AI or LLM-powered features that improved core outcomes such as time to insight, task completion, or trust at scale.
  • Strong product sense and interaction design instincts that make complex information feel simple and reliable.
  • Practical depth in retrieval and prompting, and facility with tradeoffs among quality, latency, and cost.
  • Track record of thriving amid ambiguity by shaping a multi-year vision, aligning cross-functional teams, and delivering incremental wins.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, from product briefs to data backed decisions for senior leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Ideally, you also / Bonus points

  • Hands-on proficiency with SQL and a scripting language such as Python for quick analysis, prototyping, and evaluation.
  • Familiarity with modern LLM operations and retrieval tech.
  • Passion for the written word and open knowledge —a genuine drive to build products that democratize expertise and help people learn, teach, and create.
