Electrical Designer – Power Systems / Switchgear
Based in the Greater Atlanta, GA area (Relocation Assistance Available)
We're partnered with a leading manufacturer in the high-voltage power industry that is expanding its engineering design team. This is an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Designer with a passion for power systems, control circuits, and electrical drafting to join a collaborative engineering environment focused on innovation and reliability.
About the Role
As an Electrical Designer, you'll take the lead in developing electrical control drawing packages for high-voltage switchgear and power-switching devices. You'll collaborate closely with sales, manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver complete, accurate, and high-quality designs that support project success from concept through completion. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on design work, electrical drafting, and creating solutions that have a direct impact on large-scale power infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and manage electrical control drawing packages for high-voltage switchgear and related systems.
- Apply core electrical drafting and design fundamentals to produce detailed wiring diagrams and schematic sets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales, manufacturing, quality) to ensure timely and accurate project delivery.
- Troubleshoot and resolve wiring or field installation challenges.
- Document engineering changes, maintain project reports, and ensure compliance with ANSI, IEEE, ASTM, AWS, and CSA standards.
- Support order fulfillment, site startups, integration, and training as needed.
- Identify opportunities for design improvements and process optimization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
- 2+ years of electrical design experience, ideally within switchgear or related power systems
- Strong AutoCAD proficiency
- Solid understanding of electrical control and protection systems
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- Professional demeanor, punctuality, and eagerness to learn are key traits
Preferred Experience
Candidates from organizations such as Hubbell Power Systems, SEECO, Turner Electric, Hitachi, S&C, Cleveland Price, Pascor, Cooper, Eaton, or ABB are highly encouraged to apply.
