Marketing Director, Creative Services

The Marketing Director, Creative Services provides centralized creative leadership for the Performance Coatings Group (PCG), leading a team of graphic designers, content managers, videographers/photographers, and project managers to deliver high-impact, on-brand marketing assets at scale.

This role is responsible for setting creative and content strategy, enabling integrated marketing and communication programs, and establishing best practices that support PCG's strategic priorities across global markets. The Director brings a strong blend of creative marketing expertise, operational rigor, and business acumen to drive measurable impact and support continued business growth.

Operating in a highly matrixed environment, this role requires a balance of creative vision, systems thinking, and leadership influence. The Marketing Director is an experienced people leader, trusted collaborator, and innovative problem-solver who modernizes creative operations to meet future-state needs while ensuring brand consistency, creative excellence, and operational efficiency. This position has four direct reports and works closely with marketing communications team and business leaders to translate global business priorities into scalable, effective marketing solutions.

This role is not remote/hybrid. This role will report to Sherwin-Williams Global Headquarters located at 1 Sherwin Way, Cleveland, OH 44113. This position also requires at least 20% travel.

Responsibilities

Creative Strategy & Brand Stewardship

  • Lead and develop the Creative Services team (Graphic Design, Content, Videographers/Photographers and Project Management) in the strategic development of creative deliverables that are on brand, audience-centered and aligned to PCG business priorities.
  • Serve as the primary steward of the Performance Coatings Group and corporate brands, maintaining and evolving comprehensive style, content and design systems to ensure consistency in tone, visuals and messaging across markets.
  • Design and lead content strategies across small-scale and large-scale initiatives, connecting business strategy, digital channels, brand design and compelling storytelling across the customer journey.
  • Partner with Division teams to translate business objectives into effective marketing communications, analyzing performance and identifying opportunities to optimize for impact.
  • Establish and scale best practices across multimedia content creation, content management and campaign implementation to elevate creative effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Modernize governance models for brand, content and AI-enabled creative development to ensure quality, consistency and responsible use.

Creative Operations & Project Management Excellence

  • Lead the evolution of creative operations toward a future-state model that enables modular and personalized content development, efficient adaptation across channels, regions and customer segments.
  • Provide leadership in AI-enabled creative and content development, including the responsible adoption of GenAI tools to enhance ideation, production efficiency, versioning and personalization at scale.
  • Oversee prioritization of creative resources in alignment with short and long-term strategic objectives, balancing speed, quality and scalability.
  • Establish and continuously improve creative operations frameworks, workflows and ways of working that drive efficiencies, consistency and improved value across the organization.

Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Define and track success metrics to showcase efficiency, speed-to-market, stakeholder satisfaction and value contribution to business outcomes.
  • Use insights to improve creative effectiveness, efficiency, relevance and scalability.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to optimize tools, platforms and workflows that support content development and personalization at scale.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks, pilot new approaches and scale best practices across the organization.
  • Champion new tools, formats and capabilities where they deliver clear business value.

People Leadership & Talent Development

  • Build, coach and lead high-performing teams in a complex, matrixed organization, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Assess team capabilities, identify skill gaps and align talent to current and future business needs.
  • Establish and maintain development plans for direct reports, supporting continuous learning, coaching and professional growth.
  • Strengthen team capabilities, tools and processes to ensure sustain performance and adaptability in a changing market landscape.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future (e.g., OPT, CPT, H1B, EB-1, etc.)
  • Must have a bachelor's degree or higher in business, marketing or communications
  • Must have ten (10) years of progressive marketing experience, preferably within a global B2B or complex portfolio-driven environment, with demonstrated experience supporting integrated marketing initiatives at scale.
  • Must be able to travel at least 20%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have a master's degree or higher in business, marketing or communications
