Senior Product Manager, Platform Performance & Infrastructure

Sigma is the AI apps and analytics platform connected to the cloud data warehouse. Using Sigma, business and technical teams can build intelligent, production-ready AI apps that accelerate and automate operational workflows. Sigma provides a spreadsheet interface, SQL and Python editors, visual builders, and native AI to help teams turn live data into interactive applications, analysis, reports, and embedded experiences.

As Sigma scales to support larger enterprises and more demanding workloads, we're looking for a Senior Product Manager, Platform Performance & Infrastructure to own critical backend capabilities that power every Sigma experience.

In this role, you will be responsible for defining and delivering product improvements across workbook performance, query lifecycle, compute and caching, metadata services, compiler components, and new warehouse connectors. These systems are foundational to Sigma's ability to scale reliably and deliver fast, predictable performance for enterprise customers.

You'll work closely with platform engineering teams and cross-functional partners to translate performance and scalability challenges into clear product priorities and shipped outcomes. This role is ideal for a technically strong Senior PM who enjoys working deep in the stack while staying grounded in customer impact.

This role is four days on-site in our San Francisco office.

Key Responsibilities

Own a core platform area

  • Own the product roadmap for Sigma's performance and infrastructure surface area, including query execution, compute and caching, metadata services, compiler-related components, and connectors.
  • Ensure platform investments directly improve workbook performance, reliability, and scalability.

Drive execution and delivery

  • Partner closely with engineering to scope, prioritize, and deliver improvements across latency, concurrency, throughput, and cost efficiency.
  • Break down complex technical initiatives into clear milestones and incremental wins.

Own the query lifecycle

  • Define product requirements across the query lifecycle — from generation and compilation to execution, caching, and results delivery.
  • Balance tradeoffs across performance, correctness, debuggability, and cost.

Support enterprise scale

  • Identify platform gaps impacting large customers, high-concurrency workloads, and embedded analytics use cases.
  • Work with Customer Success, Support, and Sales Engineering to understand and address real-world performance issues.

Enable extensibility

  • Contribute to the strategy and prioritization of new data connectors and platform extensions in partnership with engineering.

Be a strong cross-functional partner

  • Communicate platform priorities clearly to engineering, design, GTM, and leadership stakeholders.
  • Represent platform tradeoffs and decisions in planning and execution forums.

Measure impact

  • Define and track success metrics related to performance, reliability, and customer experience.
  • Use data and feedback to guide prioritization and iteration.

Qualifications

Product Management Experience

  • 6+ years of product management experience in B2B SaaS, data platforms, analytics, infrastructure, or developer-facing products.
  • Experience owning and delivering technically complex product areas.

Technical Depth

  • Strong understanding of databases, distributed systems, query engines, caching, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Comfortable engaging in technical discussions with engineers and understanding architectural tradeoffs.

Customer-Centered Thinking

  • Ability to connect backend platform work to customer outcomes and enterprise needs.
  • Experience working with enterprise customers or high-scale systems is a plus.

Execution-Oriented

  • Proven ability to drive clarity, prioritize effectively, and deliver in ambiguous problem spaces.
  • Strong judgment in making pragmatic tradeoffs.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Clear, concise communicator who can make complex topics understandable.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, customer-facing teams, and leadership.

Startup Mindset

  • Action-oriented and adaptable, with comfort operating in a fast-moving environment.
