Industrial Designer

Position Summary:

The Industrial Designer provides primary support to the Industrial Design team to create innovative products across all Snap-on brands. Multi-project management and technical skills are required to bring new or improved products to the market to satisfy business unit goals, manufacturability requirements, and customer needs. Project lead responsibilities include integration of engineering, marketing, and product management while developing project plans, schedules, progress updates, expenditures, and project prioritization.

Key Tasks

  • Rapid development of product designs incorporating manufacturing, ergonomic, and branding considerations/constraints.
  • Multi-project prioritization with regular upward management communication of progress and timelines.
  • Execute on goals, objectives, and project plans in line with business unit goals and customer needs.
  • Design and execute hands-on creation of 3D prototypes utilizing rapid prototyping: 3D printing, foam, paper board, clay, steel, cast materials, etc, to communicate form and function.
  • Contribute ideas on new products, product improvements, and design processes.
  • Regularly review project plans, schedules, expenditures, and priorities to ensure goals are being met.
  • Regularly interface with engineering, marketing, and product management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design required
  • 2-5 years experience in Industrial Design required
  • A design portfolio must be submitted for consideration
