Bridge Designer (Multiple Positions)

Bridge Designer (Multiple Positions) (Stantec Consulting Services Inc.; Jacksonville, FL): Design concrete bridge superstructures by determining geometry, girder type and size, amount of prestressing steel required, amount of reinforcing steel required in the deck slab, bearing type and size, and temporary bracing requirements. Design bridge substructures by determining size of footings and required reinforcing steel, number and size of columns and reinforcing steel, pedestal size and reinforcing steel, and elevations. Support design of bridge foundations by assessing foundation type such as concrete pile, steel pile, drilled shaft, auger cast pile and size. Support design of box culverts and wingwalls for size, geometry, member thicknesses, reinforcing steel, allowable bearing pressures. Design sign support structures using FDOT standard details and software to determine member and connection sizes as well as required drilled shaft diameter and length. 40 hours per week, M-F (9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.).

Bonus: Individuals in this position may be paid a discretionary bonus.

Requirements: Must have a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, or a related field, and 4 years of related work experience; OR a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, or a related field, and 2 years of related work experience. Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience with the following: Structural Engineering including design of reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, and steel; Concrete elements, reinforcing steel, prestressing steel, and structural steel to resist applied loadings, and evaluating strength, service, and extreme event loading conditions; Bentley CAD or Autodesk CAD software to review and evaluate Roadway information, developing structural plans and details; ConSpan or Concise software for design of structural beams and elements; and Connection Design including connections between precast components for erection and service loads. Must have passed the U.S. NCEES exam or hold Engineering Intern Certification. Travel to various locations throughout the US required up to 10%. Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
