Design And Drafting Team Lead
We have an opportunity for a Design and Drafting Team Leader to join our Community Development team in Caberra, ACT. The main responsibilities of the Team Leader would be to:
- Manage and coordinate all multi-disciplinary activities and inputs by the technical team, including specialist inputs, to ensure an integrated technical solution.
- Manage and coordinate design and drafting resources in the ACT and other offices.
- Lead complex geometric design inputs to projects
- Fulfil contract management and supervision roles in addition to contract preparation and tender evaluation.
- Identify opportunities and develop high level relationships with our key transportation and future rail focused clients in line with Stantec business strategies.
- Support project managers/team leaders by undertaking engineering calculation, site investigation, design, report writing, drawing preparation and contract supervision for a variety of projects and to ensure that the outcomes in terms of profit, schedule, technical and quality.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and oversee the technical delivery of complex and/or major projects to ensure deliverables meet or exceed client and project expectations including resolving any technical issues that arise.
- Take responsibility for integrated project delivery across different disciplines and/or business units and seek out opportunities to enhance efficiencies in delivery.
- In consultation with project managers and/or design managers, ensure technical risks of projects are identified and strategies developed and implemented to mitigate them.
- Lead complex geometric design inputs to projects working alongside our senior design managers and project managers.
- Work on detailed designs and calculations across a variety of transport related infrastructure projects, both urban and rural.
- Lead the development of contract documents including technical specifications and coordinate inputs and approvals across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Undertake construction supervision and quality assurance across Civil infrastructure, urban development and Transportation projects.
- Collaborate closely with project team, managers, leaders and members of the organisation to achieve a coordinated approach to delivery projects.
- Plan, program and coordinate studies, investigation, design and construction management projects, as Team Leader or Design Manager, to deliver the agreed outputs on budget, on time and to quality standards.
- Effectively develop people by acting as a mentor, developing them to their full potential.
- Work inclusively with clients and key stakeholders during the development of technical solutions and project outcomes that create value for clients and provide Stantec with a differentiator in the market.
- Develop and maintain key client relationships in Canberra and within ACT.
- Engage with senior members of client organisations and partners to elevate the brand of Stantec and to position the team for future success.
- Liaise continually with the client to ensure that their requirements are met and that any concerns are heard and addressed for the future.
- Develop new client relationships to help expand Stantec's market share.
- Effectively develop commercial arrangements with our project partners, whether they are consultants or contractors.
About You:
- Qualifications in Drafting or Engineering and/or relevant equivalent work experience including documentation for transport and civil infrastructure projects.
- Experience in leading a team of civil drafters, managing project resourcing and quality of outputs and client deliverables.
- Extensive experience delivering a range of clients in ACT and NSW, all in accordance with their specifications.
- Good understanding of Common Data Environments, AutoCAD Macros and Scripts to automate repetitive tasks.
- Extensive experience in the operation of software design tools such as AutoCAD packages.
- Basic knowledge in Civil 3D or 12D would be useful.
- Strong knowledge of local drafting standards.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills and the ability to solve problems utilising existing procedures.
- Strong client focus, high level of motivation and dedication and the ability to work well in a team environment.
