The Designer is to work with some general guidance and direction from a Project Architect at our Phoenix, AZ office. Your role will be to support the Project Architect, this could include coordinating with the project team and consultants, attending meetings with contractors and owners, and supporting multiple projects at various phases of design and construction.

Join a top 10 global integrated design firm in our Phoenix Buildings practice that provides Architecture, Buildings Engineering, and Planning services with a long history and deep commitment to multiple market sectors including Advanced Manufacturing, Healthcare and Academic.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the planning, organization, and directing of the work throughout the life cycle of the project.
  • Utilizes BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.
  • Experience with creating construction project documents in all Revit phases.
  • Assists interpreting and applying building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies.
  • Prepares and revises documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections and details.
  • Participates in bidding and negotiation phase and prepare addenda.
  • Reviews shop drawings and submittals, responds to RFIs, prepares site observation reports and other contract administration tasks.
  • Assists in project coordination and meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner, contractor, and sub-contractors.
  • Participate in client project requirement meetings and value analysis and basic cost estimating.
  • Visit project sites and with clients as necessary.
  • Assists in the preparation of the project specifications. Coordination of specs with construction documents.
  • Participate in constructability review.
  • Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects.
  • Assists in preparing and ensuring that work conforms to project budget, schedule, and overall work planning.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, juggle, and prioritize multiple projects and adjust accordingly, often against tight deadlines.

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Requisite knowledge and application of accessibility codes, applicable building codes.
  • General understanding of all phases of architectural document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • General knowledge of building construction systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Ability to conduct space planning, block planning and adjacencies in coordination with building program.
  • To develop floor plans, wall sections, and details.
  • To check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • To participate and collaborate in a project team setting through all phases of architectural document production.
  • To engage in creative and critical thought.
  • To hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.
  • To interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
  • To communicate abstract ideas (verbal/written).
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUP, Newforma, Sefaira and Bluebeam.

Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree in Architecture or bachelor's degree in support of licensure criteria required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
