As an Urban Designer, you will play a strategic role within our center of excellence in design, collaborating with North American leaders in urban design, urbanism, and landscape architecture. You will help develop business opportunities and create links with different Stantec offices worldwide. Our areas of intervention include:

  • Major infrastructure projects (transport, TOD, structuring axes);
  • Support for private corporations and real estate developers;
  • Master planning and design of entire neighborhoods;
  • Design of major streets, public squares, and civic spaces;
  • Design of urban parks and natural landscapes;
  • Redevelopment of industrial, waterfront, or transitional sectors.

What you will achieve with us:

  • Conduct studies of urban development opportunities and feasibility;
  • Develop urban planning concepts within master plans, comprehensive planning plans, and special urban planning plans;
  • Lead projects of good design practices like design and planning guides and development guidelines;
  • Develop strategic vision documents for various projects, taking into account stakeholder expectations and develop a narrative framework that argues and illustrates the project direction;
  • Participate in the design of multidisciplinary projects with different disciplines (landscape, transport infrastructure, civil infrastructure, architecture, etc.) within collaborative work workshops;
  • Design urban development programs including the study of development statistics, phasing, and project implementation strategy;
  • Design and model conceptual solutions and development strategies for various projects.

Your background and key success factors:

  • University degree in urbanism, urban design, environmental design, or architecture;
  • Graduate degree in urban design, urbanism, or a complementary discipline to your undergraduate education (an asset);
  • Demonstrated quality of client relations and business acumen through professional achievements;
  • Quality of graphic expression of conceptual illustrations and assembly of deliverables reports;
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Sketchup (or other 3D modeling software);
  • Excellent knowledge of Office and Adobe suites (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop);
  • Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously within tight deadlines;
  • Ease of working within a multidisciplinary team;
  • Member of the Order of Urban Planners of Quebec or the Order of Architects of Quebec (an asset);
  • Knowledge of urban analysis tools and cartography, including GIS software (an asset);
  • Proficiency in English to facilitate collaboration with our internal teams outside Quebec or with clients.
