We are looking for an Interior Designer to fulfill the role of Intermediate Interior Designer who can lead interior design projects and work closely on Architectural projects in collaboration with an integrated team of in-house professionals. An Interior Designer at Stantec is design-oriented, task-driven, well-organized, open-minded and curious, with excellent drawing skills, an effective communicator, a rigorous thinker, and accountable to their team, firm leadership, and ultimately, the project and client. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate mastery of these compulsories while at the same time having a passion for the following: mentoring the next generation of interior designers, leveraging interior design to enhance teaching and learning, instilling a sustainable mindset, and growing business through presentations, interviews, and cultivation of client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of all aspects of interior design including programming, block planning, room data, space planning, construction detailing, material selection, furniture selection and specification.
  • Utilize REVIT to model and document projects at all phases from conceptual design through to construction documentation in all areas of the work (such as floor plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, project specifications, etc.).
  • Lead the coordination of project deliverables including schedule, meetings, Peer Reviews, etc.
  • Lead and/or assist with client meetings and stakeholder engagement workshops including user group meetings and room data meetings.
  • Lead interdisciplinary project team meetings.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and team members to prepare internal project budgets, schedules, and work plans to ensure faithful adherence to design intent, budget, schedule, and agreed-upon work plan.
  • Analyze, interpret, and apply applicable codes, regulations, and requirements.
  • Take ownership of Contract Administration duties during the construction phase.
  • Implement and champion drawing standards and project processes.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to junior design staff.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Advocate for design excellence and creativity within the practice of interior design both internally and externally.
  • Conceptualizes and develops interior design from both a functional and aesthetic perspective in concert with a client's requirements, budget, and program.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of building construction systems means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards are expected.
  • Requires comprehension in REVIT, Microsoft Office Suite, Photoshop, and InDesign; prefers experience with SketchUp, Newforma, Enscape, Bluebeam, and most recent modeling software.

Education and Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience preferred. A professionally accredited degree in interior design is required. PIDIM membership (provisional member). Candidate to complete NCIDQ exams and pass within 2-3 years of joining Stantec.

Submission Requirements: Letter of interest, resume with list of representative projects.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may require travel and include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
