Water/Wastewater Engineer-In-Training (EIT)

Many of the world's top engineers and scientists come together in our Water business because they view a community's interaction with water a bit differently—as a single holistic system, rather than unconnected networks divided by jurisdictional boundaries. Working throughout the hydrologic cycle, we are delivering sustainable solutions to make sure water is where it should be and available when needed. Our experts guide our work with scientific rigor, an innovative spirit, and a vision for growth. Every day, we help communities improve, reuse, and protect this precious resource for future generations. By 2025 we're hiring 2,000 people (like you) to join our team. Grow with us, H2O+U.

Stantec has an immediate opening for a Water/Wastewater Engineer-In-Training (EIT) in our Denver, Colorado office. This is a perfect opportunity for a talented, team focused EIT with 5 years or less of design experience looking to challenge themselves on a professional level. As part of our team, you will work to plan, design, and develop complex water infrastructure projects, supporting some of the region's largest water, wastewater, and conveyance projects. You will perform a variety of complex tasks that may include conducting analyses and preparing project documents and reports, preparing plans and specifications, engaging with clients on technical issues, and coordinating with project teams and project managers.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop project concepts and support design tasks on assigned projects under the supervision of a Project Engineer, Technical Lead and/or Project Manager.
  • Support alternative analyses (treatment trains, technologies, capacity and expansion, and optimization analyses) to support business case evaluations for making project decisions as part of the project engineering team.
  • Conduct process analyses and designs for biological wastewater treatment systems.
  • Participate in field sampling studies, pilot studies, and other data analysis activities supporting water/wastewater design.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and help resolve conflicts during the development and implementation of a project. Have the ability to initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Work with other team members, technical leads, and project managers to complete complex projects with high quality.
  • Be familiar with industry standards and manuals (i.e. ASTM, AWWA, ACPA, etc.) as well as client and regulatory agency standards and requirements.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
  • Has well-developed understanding of concepts of relevant areas of water/wastewater treatment infrastructure design.
  • Possesses excellent time management skills; thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and resources.
  • Ability to effectively discuss project issues with the project team and support the development of project solutions.
  • Proficiency in relevant discipline software programs and tools, such as BioWin, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and others.
  • Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working in diverse team environments with staff, clients, and stakeholders, including working in remote/virtual settings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other relevant engineering field. Master of Science preferred.
  • EIT certification required.
