The Director Marketplace Product is responsible for leading the end to end strategy, governance, and execution of product listing creation, optimization, and curation across all third party marketplaces (Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and others as they emerge). This role owns the marketplace product lifecycle—from product onboarding and content standards to taxonomy, SEO optimization, digital shelf performance, and compliance—ensuring that listings meet both brand expectations and marketplace requirements.

The Director leads a cross-functional team that collaborates closely with Merchandising, Marketing, Supply Chain, Staples Digital Solutions, Analytics, and external marketplace partners to drive sales growth, maximize visibility, and improve operational efficiency.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the marketplace product strategy for listing creation, curation, and optimization across Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and other emerging platforms.
• Define and enforce product content governance, taxonomy standards, and quality requirements across all marketplaces.
• Lead the strategy for digital shelf optimization, including search ranking, conversion drivers, content testing, and competitive benchmarking.
• Oversee creation and continuous improvement of product listings, including titles, descriptions, attributes, imagery, A+ content, and category placement.
• Partner with Marketplace Operations and Analytics teams to identify growth opportunities based on performance KPIs (traffic, conversion, buy box %, content compliance, etc.).
• Develop scalable processes, playbooks, and workflows to streamline listing creation and QA across high volume SKUs.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Merchandising, Supply Chain, Pricing) to ensure readiness for product launches and content accuracy.
• Lead marketplace compliance strategy, monitoring policy changes and ensuring listings adhere to platform rules and brand guidelines.
• Manage vendor and platform relationships, including Amazon and Walmart reps, content service providers, and third party optimization tools.
• Oversee implementation of tools and technologies that support product listing automation, content management, and optimization.
• Monitor marketplace trends and competitive dynamics to inform strategy and maintain best in class digital shelf positioning.

Basic Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant eCommerce or marketplace experience.
• 4+ years of experience managing Amazon or Walmart listings, content, and optimization.
• 5+ years leading teams (Managers, Specialists, or Analysts).
• Demonstrated experience managing high volume SKU catalogs (1,000+ SKUs).
• Proven ability to drive measurable improvements in marketplace KPIs (traffic, conversion, ranking, or content quality).
• Experience with marketplace tools (e.g., Amazon Seller Central, Vendor Central, Walmart Seller Center, content syndication tools).
• Successful track record managing cross-functional initiatives or process improvements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience overseeing product content across 3+ major marketplaces (e.g., Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Target Plus).
• Experience improving digital shelf KPIs by 10%+ across multiple platforms.
• Experience with product information management (PIM) or content management systems.
• MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field.
• Experience managing relationships with Amazon/Walmart category teams or strategic account support.
• Experience implementing listing automation or AI-driven optimization tools.
