Furniture Design Specialist
Responsible for activities related to design, space planning, and specifications of contract furniture, systems products, and other interior design furnishings. Coordinates and implements detailed space plans to address customer space requirements within allotted time and budget constraints. This position reports to the National Manager, Furniture Design Services. Interacts with client account base and prospects, furniture vendors, sales team, design team, project coordinators/order management team, warehouse/delivery/install team and various architectural, design and construction representatives.
Specifically, You Will:
- Consults and closely collaborates with Sales Team in the layout, design, and space planning of furniture specifications for client offices. Travel to client's location to confirm critical site dimensions and/or finishes and other project details.
- Performs space planning, furniture selection, layout, product pricing, developing standards programs, design and selection of fabrics and finishes, includes as-built drawings, space plans and final installation drawings for specification and installation of furniture.
- Provides professional customer interface on occasion by attending client planning in person and/or virtual meetings to determine furniture needs and develops solutions to meet these needs.
- Manages tenders including review of detailed tender documents, furniture specifications, application, and product strategy. Contributes to discussions in the product strategy and value engineering of the furniture solution. Identifies deviation from furniture specification clearly and concisely. Contributes to qualifying questions pertaining to furniture specifications on RFP's as required.
- Offers technical design and creative consultation to customers by answering routine and highly specialized questions regarding furniture systems.
- Validates plans against construction, electrical engineering, and Architect & Design (A&D) drawing sets and communicates any discrepancies. Provides on-site job inspections comparing construction drawings to final build-out required.
Some of what you need:
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design is preferred Or other related programs such as Architectural Technologist.
- Minimum of two (2) years in a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required.
- Prior experience in office furniture industry, general knowledge of systems furniture, and experience in customer interaction required.
- Experience with furniture design and specification software required.
- Working knowledge with Auto-CAD, CET, 2020 CAP is required.
