Under the direction of the Technology Analyst 2 (Human-Centered Design), the Technology Analyst 1 (Human-Centered Design) will be responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of business systems and tools, aiming to establish a safe and ergonomically comfortable work setting. The position will collaborate with business managers and IT professionals to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications, creating products and technologies that meet user needs for comfort, accessibility, and function.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Five (5) years of information technology experience, one (1) year of which must be within the discipline of human centered design.

Preference for candidates holding relevant Human-Centered Design certification from recognized institutions or software providers. Demonstrated experience with web page design, graphical user interface, and user centered design. Technical proficiency in Human-Centered Design tools. Fluency in a variety of programs, software, and systems such as CSS, HMI, JavaScript, and HTML. Fluent in statistics, machine learning, and scripting. Strong analytical skills to understand and translate business processes into technical requirements. Problem-solving abilities to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or networking issues. Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with both technical and non-technical staff, and to explain complex IT concepts in simple terms. Strong leadership and project management skills to oversee the implementation of new systems, ensuring they are completed in a timely manner and within budget. Attention to detail to monitor system performance and to identify any issues or opportunities for improvement. Knowledge of cyber security principles to ensure systems are secure and to protect sensitive data. Ability to work well in a team, collaborating with other IT professionals to create and edit mockups. Continual learning to keep up to date with the latest IT trends and technologies.

Appointment to this position and continued employment with the agency is contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining New York State residency within six months of hiring. Appointment to this position is not final until all agency approvals have been granted.

If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
