About the Role: We're searching for a visionary Director, Brand & Environmental Design to lead the creative evolution of Steak 'n Shake's physical presence. This role will set the tone for a bold new era—designing upscale, modern restaurant interiors and exteriors that deliver an elevated guest experience while honoring our iconic legacy.

Responsibilities:

• Create refined, sophisticated designs for restaurant exteriors, interiors, and drive-thrus, emphasizing minimalism, clean lines, and modern materials.
• Develop updated environmental graphics—sleek signage, dynamic menu boards, impactful wayfinding—that embody an edgy yet inviting vibe.
• Guide remodels and new builds, working closely with architects and contractors to execute a design vision balancing style and function.
• Establish comprehensive brand guidelines for physical spaces, ensuring consistency across all franchise and corporate locations.
• Lead and mentor two designers, setting high standards for creative innovation and precision.
• Partner with leadership to craft immersive guest environments that position Steak 'n Shake as a modern premium brand.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years in brand or environmental design with a proven track record of transforming legacy retail or restaurant brands.
• Portfolio showcasing contemporary, upscale environments and a strong sense of spatial storytelling.
• Leadership experience in creative direction and team management.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite; 3D visualization skills (SketchUp, Revit, AutoCAD) highly desirable.
• Exceptional attention to detail, communication, and project management skills.
