Read and understand production bills of material, structural drawings and steel erection drawings to produce accurate shop orders for production.

Data entry and design of open web steel joists and steel decking in proprietary design program
Prepare shop orders and details for production
Check designs and shop orders for other designers
Handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, production driven environment
Meet schedules for assigned projects
Other duties as assigned

Good verbal and written communication skills
Proficient computer skills
Basic understanding in geometry and trigonometry
Ability to visualize how elements fit together in 3D when working with 2D drawings
Willingness to go beyond typical duties to assist co-workers and customers
Willing and able to work 50+ hours/week during busy seasons
Prior experience in the steel joist industry is a plus
Design related degree with knowledge of statics and materials is a plus
