Responsible for providing technical design services and support to Construction & Engineering teams in some/all of the following areas: Designing components/portions of an engineered product, functional system, or structure Developing layouts, drawings, models, and simulations of engineering designs using computer-aided design/engineering/manufacturing (CAD/CAE/CAM) software Building scale models of industrial products/components and manufacturing equipment Conducting research and analysis as input to engineering calculations, designs, and testing (e.g., surveying & mapping geographical features, stress testing materials/assemblies, analyzing/optimizing software & control systems, etc.)
Assist construction and engineering teams in designing architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) layouts in multi-temp warehouse, meat/fish packaging and produce processing facilities. Heavy focus on design work and problem solving. Assist in reviewing Vendor and OEM drawings, equipment, valves, instrument specifications, and selection. Facilitate design reviews and generate systems bill of materials (BOM). Ensure all drawings are up to date and comply with Sysco's drawing formatting and standards. Maintain projects' drawing and documentation database. Assist in training design staff in drafting of food facility plans.
Education: Required: Associate degree or four years of technical school training in AutoCAD, or equivalent work experience Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Experience: Required: Five years' experience in AEC drafting skills. Preferred: Ten years' experience in an engineering drafting setting involving process and packaging or similar food plant operations, along with software license management experience. Skills: Very high level of skill in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Outlook, Google Earth or ARCGIS, Excel, and typical Microsoft Office products. Skilled and highly knowledgeable in food processing and packaging equipment and processes. Ability to solve minor design problems in an effective manner. Extensive industry knowledge of mechanical equipment, instruments, and devices used in food processing systems. Acquainted with material specifications and selection. Knowledge of multi-temperature food storage facilities is a necessity. Knowledge of Revit a plus. Good electronic, written and spoken communication skills. Skilled at reading and understanding engineering drawings, and communicating that information to others. Skilled at the presentation of designs through multiple formats – printed, electronic, telecommunications, remote meetings, etc. Strong architectural and civil design skills. Must be able to work well in a fast-paced, quality-oriented team environment, involving multiple project managers and other professionals.
