Senior Manager, Local Sales Growth Strategy

The Senior Manager, Local Sales Growth Strategy plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing Sysco's long-term growth strategy across multiple business segments. This leader partners with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders to drive customer acquisition, retention, and expansion through data-driven insights, strategic initiatives, and innovative programs. The role blends analytical rigor with strategic vision to optimize customer engagement, identify new market opportunities, and enhance revenue and volume streams.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Develop and support the local sales growth strategy and 3-year strategic plan across business segments.
  • Lead initiatives focused on customer acquisition, recovery, and penetration improvement.
  • Conduct both quantitative and qualitative analyses to evaluate new market opportunities and develop business cases.
  • Translate customer insights, segmentation, and data into actionable strategies to improve retention and customer lifetime value.
  • Drive end-to-end customer journey mapping and content creation to support strategic initiatives.
  • Present growth roadmaps and strategic recommendations to sales and functional leaders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and the North American Center of Excellence (COE) to execute strategies and financial modeling.
  • Support strategic initiatives addressing evolving customer needs, competitive pressures, and emerging market opportunities.
  • Define and monitor KPIs for strategic initiatives.
  • Evaluate strategic questions to ensure alignment with company goals and stakeholder expectations.
  • Shape enterprise strategies and guide senior leadership toward alignment and execution.
  • Lead and influence cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization to drive progress and results.

Education required:

  • Bachelors in an analytical field (e.g., Business, Economics, Engineering)

Education preferred:

  • MBA

Experience required:

  • 10+ years working experience

Experience preferred:

  • 4-6 years experience post MBA

Technical skills and abilities include:

  • Demonstrated ability to create a future state vision, test hypotheses, and synthesize insights
  • Strong problem-solving skills to take an ambiguous problem and develop a structured and logical framework for define the problem, analyze the data, and derive insights and actionable recommendations
  • Strong ability to manage ambiguity and guide the organization through it towards clear and decisive action plans
  • Experience shaping enterprise strategies and working with senior leadership to drive alignment
  • Proven ability to prioritize and deliver on multiple concurrent initiatives that have significant financial impact with a P&L mindset
  • Experience working in an agile team environment
  • Ability to structure unique problems and lead cross-functional teams in a way that enables the organization to make significant progress quickly
  • Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to establish credibility and influence executive-level stakeholders as well as the ability to work across boundaries and lead through influence
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Leader/doer with the ability to operate effectively and influence others in a matrix organization
  • Excellent pattern recognition and predictive modeling skills
  • Self-starter with a strong ability to lead and develop a new team
  • Professional attitude, service orientation, strong work ethic; superb team player
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
