Electrical Technologist/Designer

Tetra Tech is adding an Electrical Technologist/Designer to our Electrical team based in Vancouver, BC.

Your role includes:

  • Collect field information, complete equipment specifications, perform field verification, and prepare as-built markups.
  • Develop electrical drawings, motor schematics, wiring diagrams, logic diagrams, cable tray layouts, termination drawings, area classification drawings, and material take-offs.
  • Prepare reports, conduct code reviews, and support commissioning activities.
  • Complete 3D electrical system design, including cable tray routing.
  • Review and evaluate technical work for accuracy and quality.
  • Coordinate activities with Technical Leads, Project Managers, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Work closely with other disciplines within the company and with clients to support project execution.
  • Occasional travel within Canada may be required with travel time often concentrated in bunches.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technologist or related design program.
  • Eligible for or registered as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) is considered an asset.
  • 7–15 years of relevant electrical design experience supporting industrial and/or engineering projects, including knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Some industrial electrical design experience considered an asset.
  • Experience in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • CADWorks and Bentley Raceways or other 3D software considered an asset.
  • Experience in MS Office particularly in Word and Excel.
  • Ability to effectively plan time and prioritize on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Organized and resourceful with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required for internal team and client interfaces.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $95,000 per year. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
