Executive Director, Marketing

The System Offices is one of several system members within the Texas A&M University System representing one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation, with a network of 12 universities, a comprehensive health science center, eight state agencies, and the RELLIS Campus. The Texas A&M University System mission is to provide education, conduct research, commercialize technology, offer training, and deliver services for the people of Texas and beyond.

The Executive Director of Marketing and Communications, under general direction, plans and implements a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy for the Texas A&M University System, including Texas A&M-RELLIS. This role promotes the advancement of the System by enhancing name recognition and public perception through strategic marketing channels and both internal and external communications. The Executive Director collaborates with officials across the System to ensure effective implementation of marketing strategies and alignment with strategic goals.

In essence, the Executive Director works closely with marketing professionals from universities and agencies throughout the System to identify potential companies and government entities interested in collaborating with scientists and professionals from The Texas A&M University System. Much of the job will involve Texas A&M-RELLIS, which is an ever-growing applied research campus in nearby Bryan, Texas with tremendous potential. The 3,000+ acre site already is home to several System entities and initiatives, but there is still a lot of room for growth. Additionally, the Executive Director will have the opportunity to work with professionals at the System's 12 regional campuses to develop new marketing projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify critical opportunities in marketing and communications and assist in the development of strategic initiatives.
  • Analyze and assess key marketing and communications opportunities specific to the Texas A&M University System.
  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans that align with System goals.
  • Manage internal and external communications systems for the Texas A&M University System.
  • Establish and maintain effective, cooperative relationships with administrators, businesses, community leaders, project stakeholders and governmental organizations.
  • Build and foster partnerships with local businesses, community organizations and government entities to support System initiatives.
  • Define and monitor advertising content and promotional messaging, ensuring consistent brand management and alignment with departmental or member goals.
  • Use analytical tools to measure the performance of marketing and communications efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism or related field or Bachelor's degree in any field with a Master's degree in a related field.
  • Seven years of related experience.
  • Experience working with clients and collaborators from a wide range of industries.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with the institution's mission, goals and objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of traditional and digital marketing, including web platforms, social media, CRM, SEO, content marketing and emerging technologies.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Some travel required.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree
