UX Designer And Strategist

As part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific team, you'll discover meaningful work that makes a positive impact on a global scale. Join our colleagues in bringing our Mission to life every single day to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to take science a step beyond by developing solutions for some of the world's toughest challenges, like protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe or helping find cures for cancer.

We are seeking a talented and experienced UX Designer and Strategist to join our team. As a key member of our UX team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the user experience and strategy of our digital products and services. Your expertise in Figma, along with your passion for constantly refining processes and learning, will be instrumental in driving our design initiatives forward. We are equally interested in designers who are curious about and energized by the ways AI is reshaping software design—both as a medium we design for and as a set of tools we design with. An AI-minded approach to your craft is core to how this team operates and where we are headed.

Responsibilities:

  • UX Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business goals, user needs, and technical requirements. Create intuitive, user-centered designs and wireframes that align with project objectives.
  • UI Design: Collaborate with visual designers to ensure the implementation of visually appealing and cohesive user interfaces. Apply brand guidelines and design principles to create polished and pixel-perfect UI designs that enhance the overall user experience.
  • Customer Focus: Conduct user research, usability testing, and gather feedback to inform design decisions. Analyze data and translate insights into actionable design improvements.
  • Interaction Design: Develop interactive prototypes and design systems using Figma, ensuring seamless and delightful user interactions. Implement best practices and industry standards to create consistent and cohesive experiences.
  • AI-Augmented Practice: Bring an AI-minded approach to your design work—using AI tools to accelerate research synthesis, ideation, prototyping, and content generation, while applying sound judgment about where AI strengthens the work and where human craft must lead. Contribute to how the team adopts and evolves AI-enabled workflows.
  • Strategy Development: Work closely with stakeholders to define project goals, objectives, and success metrics. Develop user personas, user journeys, and information architecture to guide the design process.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and visual designers, to ensure successful implementation of designs. Clearly communicate design concepts, rationale, and solutions to stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies—with particular attention to how AI is reshaping the software design industry. Proactively seek opportunities to refine design processes and workflows, and contribute to the growth and development of the design team.

Requirements:

  • Strong proficiency in Figma, with a deep understanding of its features and capabilities.
  • A portfolio showcasing a range of user-centered design projects, demonstrating expertise in interaction design, information architecture, and usability testing.
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies, with the ability to translate research insights into actionable design solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present and articulate design concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a passion for constantly refining processes and learning.
  • Genuine curiosity about and passion for AI as a technology, an emerging design medium, and a transformative force in the software design industry, with a thoughtful point of view on where it adds value and where it does not.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g., LLM-based assistants, AI-enabled design and prototyping tools, code-generation tools) within your design practice, or a demonstrated eagerness and aptitude to develop that fluency quickly.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field is preferred.
