Technical Designer

True Classic is seeking a Technical Designer with strong technical design expertise and a passion for fit, construction, and precision in apparel. This individual will be responsible for owning the technical development process across multiple categories, ensuring garments meet brand standards for fit, quality, and consistency. You will partner closely with design, product development, and production teams to deliver best-in-class products that balance aesthetic, cost, and manufacturability.

Our environment is incredibly fast-paced and highly collaborative, requiring someone who thrives under pressure, adapts quickly to shifting priorities, and can execute with speed and accuracy without sacrificing attention to detail.

All roles at True Classic are global and omnichannel, driving accountability across product categories, regions, and sales/marketing channels.

This is a full-time, onsite role based in Los Angeles. The schedule is 3x per week in the Culver City office and 2x per week in the Calabasas office.

Areas of Accountability

  • Own the creation, maintenance, and accuracy of technical packages (tech packs), including specifications, measurements, construction details, BOMs, and grading.
  • Measure development and production samples, preparing them for fittings.
  • Lead and manage fit sessions: evaluate garment fit, identify patterning adjustments, and provide actionable technical recommendations.
  • Communicate detailed fit and construction revisions to vendors in a clear, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Collaborate closely with design, product development, and production to ensure garments meet design intent while achieving cost and margin targets.
  • Anticipate potential technical or production issues and propose proactive solutions to avoid delays.
  • Maintain consistent brand fit standards and ensure accuracy across all categories.
  • Track updates and maintain detailed records in WIP and PLM systems to ensure transparency and accountability across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in technical design, spec writing, or pattern making, ideally with a focus on menswear.
  • Strong expertise in garment construction, pattern making, grading, and fit evaluation.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Excel, Google Drive, and PLM systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical direction to cross-functional teams and global vendors.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Experience leading fit sessions and collaborating with overseas vendors is a plus.
