Objective of the Position

As the Lead Quest Designer on Beyond Good & Evil 2, you will be in charge of managing a team of Quest Designers. In collaboration with the Narrative and Design teams, you will participate in the conception and implementation of quest narratives and associated systems, for which you will be responsible.

Your mission will be to align the needs and deliverables of your team with the creative direction of the project and the associated constraints.

As part of the development of our Beyond Good and Evil 2 project, we are strengthening our Design team with an experienced professional capable of leading the quest conception and mentoring a talented team in an international environment.

Main Missions

  • Narrative Direction & Quest Conception
  • Define the structure, rhythm, and emotional arc of quests throughout the game.
  • Supervise the creation of main and side quests, ensuring variety, coherence, and enjoyment of the game.
  • Promote an approach centered on the player's experience: meaningful choices, engaging consequences, and a controlled pace.
  • Management
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of Quest Designers and Narrative Designers.
  • Provide mentoring, constructive feedback, and clear guidance, in conjunction with HR to support talent progression.
  • Define roadmaps, plan deliverables, anticipate risks, and ensure the delivery of AAA content on time.
  • Collaboration
  • Work closely with the Level Design, Writing, Animation, Audio, and Gameplay teams to ensure the seamless integration of quests into the overall game experience.
  • Act as the main point of contact for all quest-related issues, ensuring clear communication and effective coordination between departments.
  • Documentation
  • Regularly review and test quests to ensure quality, coherence, and player engagement.
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation (quest flowcharts, dialogue outlines, implementation guidelines).
  • Establish a culture of continuous feedback, learning, and innovation within the team.

Indispensable Qualifications

  • Proven experience in narrative or quest conception in a senior or lead position, in at least one AAA or highly-publicized game.
  • Solid understanding of interactive storytelling, player pacing, and motivation.
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and communication skills, in both French and English.
  • Proficiency in game engines (e.g., Unreal, Unity) and scripting tools.
  • Ability to balance narrative ambition, technical feasibility, and production constraints.
  • Confirmed experience in team management and multi-department coordination in a production environment.

Desired Qualifications / Assets

  • Experience in writing, scripting, or advanced narrative conception.
  • Knowledge of branching dialogue systems and player choice mechanics.
  • Passion for creating rich worlds and developing characters.
  • Experience in open-world or RPG game development.

You will join a team composed of complementary profiles (narrative, world design, game design), in close connection with the creative direction.

You will work closely with Fawzi MESMAR, Creative Director, reporting directly to the Narrative Director and managing a talented team of designers.

To succeed, you will be able to:

  • Mobilize a team around a strong narrative vision.
  • Combine creativity, technical rigor, and respect for deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of profiles.
