Description of the Position
Beyond Good & Evil 2 is an open world action adventure game set in a captivating space opera universe. It is also the direct prequel to the classic 2003 game! Thanks to the advanced technology brought by our proprietary Voyager engine, Beyond Good & Evil 2 aims to offer an organic and seamless experience of space exploration and piracy on a solar system scale, where players can discover exotic locations, colorful characters, and many mysteries to uncover solo or with friends. Missions:
Under the responsibility of the Audio Director of the Montpellier studio, you provide technical solutions in the integration and implementation of audio systems to ensure that the audio assets created by the team function as planned, in line with the audio director's vision.
- You work in the middleware (Wwise) and in the proprietary engine through the scripting or graph part of the game editor.
- You develop solutions in accordance with the technical audio direction's constraints and the specifics of the sound engine.
- You propose to the Audio Director audio systems that improve the efficiency and integration of audio in other departments (anim, ui, etc...)
- You also have all the prerogatives of a Sound Designer:
- Create audio assets
- Propose audio designs
- Integrate audio designs
All of this can touch all areas of audio: Sound, Music, Voice and all game components: animation, ui, weapon, vehicles...
Also, you will fully assume the role of technical audio reference in the project, ensuring the coherence, performance, and quality of all audio systems:
- Exercise technical audio authority of the project and ensure the proper application of technical standards.
- Write, maintain, and distribute technical audio direction documentation.
- Control and validate audio guidelines, ensuring their compliance and effective integration into the production pipeline.
- Act as the technical reference and main point of contact with other Technical Directors of the project.
- Contribute actively to the management of CPU and memory load, as well as the optimization of resource usage on different consoles.
Your future work environment:
The audio team supports all studio projects (marketing, recordings, multi-projects) blending artistic creativity and technical expertise; it consists of about ten people and an audio director.
You will work in Alexandre Carlotti's team.
You will become THE person of reference on the technical aspects of the BGE2 project, at the heart of a passionate team and you will work in full harmony with the audio programmers of the project.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the principles of audio physics and digital audio.
- Mastery of the use of DAWs (REAPER, ProTools), processors (spectral, temporal and dynamic).
- Knowledge of voice recording techniques, sound effects, foley, and ambiances.
- Mastery of mixing and mastering resources in accordance with sound volume standards.
- Use of virtual instruments for sound design and specific plugins for special effects.
- Advanced knowledge of middleware WWISE, object-oriented approach, ducking, bus structure, HDR, priorities...
- Knowledge of audio resource management in games (memory, voice, CPU usage, etc.).
- Knowledge of visual scripting and engine functionalities.
- Knowledge of at least one scripting language (python, C#,...) is necessary to create scripts for Reaper, Wwise, etc.
- Knowledge of technical audio direction, including a solid understanding of performance constraints, technical pipelines, and multi-platform environments.

- Interview 2: Technical (1h, via video): a discussion with two members of the team, more focused on the technical aspects, to get into the specifics and speak the same language.
A technical test phase is also planned to better understand your working methods and technical sensitivity.
Your integration?
From your arrival, you will benefit from a structured integration process to quickly immerse yourself in the project universe.
During your first week, you will attend a comprehensive presentation of the project and our tools, led by different key people of the team: the audio director, the music designer, and the coordinator. This time dedicated will allow you to understand in depth their pipeline and approach, while exchanging directly with those who make the project live on a daily basis.
