Associate Designer

Currently we have an Associate Designer role open. This position designs mechanisms, structures, circuitry and controls for products to meet Link-Belt goals of Quality, Cost and Delivery.

Essential functions of the position include:

  • Prepare and check calculations to determine size, strength, or other information limiting or governing the performance and/or design of a new or existing product
  • Prepare and check detail drawings for accuracy and conformance to Link-Belt Design Policies
  • Create layouts of new designs or revisions to existing designs
  • Interact with suppliers to obtain component information and establish component specifications
  • Prepare and check engineering orders per Link-Belt Design policies
  • Produce and revise bill of materials per Link-Belt Design policies
  • Calculate weights and center of gravities for components and assemblies
  • Prepare and review assembly drawings for proper fit, completeness and including all necessary dimensions
  • Investigate and design solutions for "sales specials" request as needed
  • Investigate field service issues and make recommendations for corrections
  • Support proto@type assembly process as needed
  • Support manufacturing areas as needed during assembly, welding, and machining processes
  • Resolve manufacturing issues identified by production engineering, material sourcing, welders and assemblers
  • Coordinate the work of other personnel to complete design

General qualifications for this role:

  • 2-year college degree in mechanical or electrical design technology
  • Four (4) years of proven design experience in crane industry or eight (8) years in the heavy equipment industry
