Design Operations Manager

The Design Operations (Design Ops) Manager oversees the operational aspects of the Navy Federal UX design team, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and effectiveness in the design process. They streamline workflows, manage resources, and foster collaboration to optimize design output and impact. The Design Ops Manager acts as a strategic partner, ensuring the design team has the resources, processes, and support needed to create impactful solutions efficiently and effectively. This role will also oversee and support the team responsible for the accessibility of our digital experiences for people with disabilities in conformance with enterprise standards.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and refine design processes and Design System implementation to improve efficiency, reduce bottlenecks, and ensure consistent quality
  • Allocate design resources (people, tools, budget) effectively across projects and initiatives, ensuring optimal utilization
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between design teams and other departments, such as product, engineering, and marketing
  • Evaluate, select, and implement design tools and technologies to enhance team efficiency
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement by facilitating knowledge sharing, onboarding, and training for design team members
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of design operations and identify areas for improvement
  • Lead a team of accessibility experts that work in collaboration with product owners, designers, developers, management, and scrum teams
  • Create a uniform accessibility review process and bring in new tools to support that process
  • Monitor and analyze changes to applicable federal and state laws, rules and regulations; develop and recommend action plans for implementation/dissemination to management; assist with coordinating changes and the development of training as needed
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Design, UX, Marketing, Information Technology, Strategy, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

3 to 5 years' experience in design, project management, and analysis in support of strategic planning initiatives

Expert Knowledge in Agile methodologies

Experience leading large enterprise creative delivery teams

Extensive experience leading, shaping and developing innovative solutions while managing business risks

Ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal direction and assertiveness to change team processes quickly

Ability to productively communicate to stakeholders, team members, and leaders

Extensive experience in developing business or technology strategy

Advanced knowledge of project/program management processes and methodologies

Previous project leadership and execution, including initiatives with technology, design processes, cross-functional teams, and external partner team members

Ability to exercise initiative, produce desired results and achieve objectives

Ability to learn different collaboration or product management tools quickly

Effective skill building relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy, and tact

Advanced analytical and conceptual skills to create original concepts/theories for various projects

Advanced skill delivering effective presentations to groups of various sizes

Advanced skill influencing and guiding strategic thinking

Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Strong problem solving and negotiation skills

Desired Qualifications

Master's Degree in Design, UX, Marketing, Information Technology, Strategy, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Experience developing digital products

Background in technology or entrepreneurship

Working knowledge of Navy Federal policies, procedures, instructions, automated systems software and NCUA policies, instructions, and regulations

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
