Manager, Global Clinical Operations Learning & Development - Instructional Designer

The Manager, Global Clinical Operations Learning & Development - Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing high-quality learning solutions that support global clinical operations teams. This role partners with cross-functional stakeholders, including regional Learning Business Partners (trainers), to assess training needs, enhance training modalities, create engaging instructional content, and drive capability development aligned with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Instructional Design & Content Development

Design and develop learner-centered training solutions for onboarding, role-based training, and employee development

Create and maintain continuous learning content to support process changes and regulatory updates

Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to develop engaging, effective content across multiple modalities

Develop storyboards, scripts, assessments, and interactive learning materials

Stakeholder Collaboration & Alignment

Partner with Global Clinical Operations (GCO) stakeholders to assess training needs and priorities

Collaborate with regional Learning Business Partners (trainers) to align training approaches and delivery

Ensure learning solutions are aligned with business goals, operational strategies, and regulatory requirements

Facilitate content reviews and incorporate subject matter expert (SME) input

Technology & Learning Solutions

Develop digital learning solutions using tools such as Articulate (Storyline, Rise), Synthesia, and Vyond

Leverage learning technologies to create scalable, engaging, and innovative training modalities

Support deployment of training through learning platforms (e.g., LMS)

Stay current on emerging learning technologies and recommend enhancements

Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

Measure training effectiveness using defined metrics (e.g., learner feedback, knowledge retention, performance impact)

Analyze data and feedback to identify opportunities for improvement

Continuously update and enhance training content to reflect evolving business needs and regulatory changes

Ensure training quality, consistency, and compliance with internal standards

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Computer Skills:

Proficiency in eLearning authoring tools, including Articulate Storyline and Rise

Experience with video and animation tools such as Synthesia and Vyond

Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) for training deployment and tracking (e.g., Cornerstone, SuccessFactors)

Other Qualifications:

Working knowledge of GCP, ICH guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements

Ability to translate complex scientific and clinical concepts into clear, engaging learning content

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, global environment

Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence without authority

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

High attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance

Experience working in a matrixed, cross-functional, and global organization

Ability to adapt to changing priorities and evolving business needs

Continuous learning mindset with a focus on innovation and improvement in learning practices

Travel:

Minimum

Education/ Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Life Sciences, or related field required.

At least 5 years of professional experience required, including a minimum of 3 years of experience in instructional design, learning & development, or training roles.

Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO industry strongly preferred.

Knowledge of adult learning principles and ability to apply them in technical training design.

Strong understanding of clinical operations and drug development processes

Experience designing training for global audiences
