The Manager - Targeted Marketing is responsible for deepening relationships with customers by planning, developing, and executing email marketing strategies leading to increased customer response. High-level responsibilities include leading the email team and external vendors, implementing industry leading targeting techniques that expand customer engagement, guiding creative efforts, and leading continued growth of the email program.
Major Activities
Plan approaches for targeted marketing activities which address all stages of the customer lifecycle and are aligned with company strategic, financial, and brand goals. Continuously stay current on evolving CRM and email best practices to drive Michaels to industry leading best practices.
Manage and lead team to execute email campaigns including managing the creative development process, guiding selection criteria, managing email testing and having final responsibility for ensuring produced emails meets specified objectives. Coordinate with key internal and external partners to ensure success, including Category Marketing, eCommerce, Store Operations, Merchandising, and numerous vendors.
Manage analytic processes in partnership with CRM and Consumer Insights team including customer segmentation, test planning, results analysis, and application of actionable improvements based on findings. Ensuring email program meets established KPIs.
Lead and develop direct reports including setting goals, assigning projects, and measuring job performance

Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Marketing
Minimum Type of experience the job requires
5 or more years of CRM or email experience
3 years of project management experience
Experience running and optimizing large scale email or marketing programs and developing strategies to increase sales and engagement
Hands-on experience in developing programs to improve customer retention
Experience leading a team and managing external partners to meet desired objectives

Strong organization, time management and prioritization skills with ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
