Marketing/Communications Manager

We are looking for an experienced Marketing/Communications Manager to oversee public relations and communications efforts for the City of Clarkston, Georgia. This role is instrumental in ensuring clear and consistent messaging, fostering community engagement, and promoting local government programs and initiatives. As a long-term contract position, it offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact by enhancing communication strategies and public outreach.

Responsibilities:

Develop and execute communication strategies to promote government programs, services, and initiatives effectively.

Manage media relations, including drafting press releases, organizing press conferences, and maintaining positive relationships with media outlets.

Create and produce a variety of communication materials, such as newsletters, brochures, reports, and video scripts.

Oversee content creation and updates for the City's website and social media platforms, ensuring strong digital engagement.

Plan and support public outreach efforts, including special events and community engagement campaigns.

Lead emergency communication efforts, delivering timely and accurate information during critical situations.

Monitor local and national news coverage to identify and address potential impacts on the City.

Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to align communication strategies and share information effectively.

Develop and maintain strategic public relations plans to ensure consistent messaging and branding.

Analyze communication data to measure the effectiveness of outreach efforts and implement improvements.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field, or at least five years of relevant experience.

Proven expertise in copywriting, editing, and tailoring content for diverse audiences.

Hands-on experience managing social media platforms and crafting engaging digital content.

Strong skills in email campaigns and marketing communication strategies.

Ability to work collaboratively with government officials, department leaders, and community partners.

Familiarity with local government communication practices is preferred.

Exceptional organizational and project management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively.
