The Product Developer will be instrumental in supporting the creation and design of value-added bread products, including both branded and private label offerings. This role provides crucial technical R&D support for projects focused on process or product improvements, cost savings, and the exploration of new processing and ingredient technologies.
Responsibilities
Support the design and development of innovative bread and bakery products.
Provide technical R&D support for process and product improvement initiatives.
Participate in cost savings projects and explore new processing and ingredient technologies.
Engage with employees in the plant to ensure successful product development.
Adhere to all required food safety protocols while working in a food manufacturing environment.
Safely perform duties independently and collaboratively by following site procedures.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in food science and R&D.
Experience in new product development and GMP.
Knowledge of chemistry, biology, and molecular biology.
Ability to conduct sensory evaluations.
3-4 years of experience in bakery manufacturing, ideally in R&D.
Experience with industrial bakery equipment for yeast-raised and chemically leavened products.
5 years of experience in manufacturing, product development, or quality within the food industry.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Degree in Food Science, Engineering, or Science from a recognized university, or a diploma in Baking or Culinary Arts from a recognized college.
Certified Master Baker preferred.
Proven leadership abilities with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Solid problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
Team-oriented attitude with a positive approach.
Work Environment
The work environment includes both plant and office settings, requiring engagement with plant employees and adherence to food safety protocols. Tasks may involve standing for 8-10 hours, walking on flat and uneven surfaces, and navigating stairs. The atmosphere may expose employees to loud noises, strong smells, and dust/flour typical of a bakery.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
This is a direct placement opportunity. Benefits will be made available by client upon start of position or at the candidates request.
