Secondary Marketing Unit Trading Role

This role covers trading activities related to pipeline hedging activities, loan pooling optimization, and daily rate offering calibration and optimization. Additionally, pricing, financial analysis, and portfolio management analysis. Responsibilities include insight into SMU's profitability with input to trading and pooling techniques to increase trading gains. Completion of special projects related to Operations Development is also required. Financial analysis and reporting to various groups within the bank requires strong database management and PC skills.

Key Accountabilities

Mortgage Trading/Sale Execution (25%)

Assist with loan sales/purchases to/from investors.

Optimize loan pooling techniques to create profitability.

Delivery of loans to agencies: FNMA, FHLMC, and GNMA, ensuring compliance with all requirements.

Monitor real-time mortgage security pricing.

Ensure trading activities meet audit, SOX and BMO compliance and audit requirements.

Assist with data transfer by optimizing data transfer efficiency and ensuring data integrity.

Work with current and new investors, expanding opportunities for product offering and executions.

Model Vetting/Management (5%)

Assume responsibility for submitting and obtaining approval for models used in SMU.

Provide actual vs. model result back-testing to show that models are performing within expectations.

Complete all requests from the Model Vetting Team for additional data, analysis and annual approval request.

Risk Management (10%)

Hedging HFS Pipeline

Daily risk reporting

Participate in internal and external audits as necessary

Pricing (20%)

Assist with setting mortgage pricing by tracking competitor rates via Internet and surveys, as well as downloading investor pricing.

Manage rate offerings against cost of funds to achieve margin requirements set by management.

Maintain historical pricing database.

Balance SMU pricing objectives with Mortgage LOB's profitability and volume goals.

Financial/Pipeline Analysis (20%)

Track portfolio composition and monitor risk and ALCO portfolio limits.

Track unhedged pipeline exposure to ensure SMU is within risk guidelines.

Work with pricing survey groups to ensure that the bank is competitive in the marketplace.

Provide recommendations relating to pricing strategy, policies and enforcement ensuring margin returns and success within our markets.

Analyze fallout data to help determine trading positions.

Special Projects/Process Support (20%)

Available for projects to enhance Secondary Teams processes and execution.

Automate processes to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.

Testing and development of Internal Systems

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required, business major preferred, or equivalent work experience.

Graduate degree or financial certifications preferred.

5+ years diverse business/finance experience required.

5+ years in mortgage trading/pipeline hedging experience required.

Excellent knowledge of securities market including mortgage market and secondary mortgage market.

Solid experience/understanding of risk management and asset/liability issues.

Overall knowledge of all aspects on the mortgage business.

Experience with Risk Management Systems preferred.

Access, Excel and Word expertise required.

Statistical modeling preferred.

Strong communication skills.

Financial analysis skills.

Experience with loan servicing systems.

Strong organizational skills.

Salary: $66,600.00 - $124,200.00

Pay Type: Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group's pay range and @type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay @type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
