In this role, you will plan, develop, and review electrical engineering design work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review key electrical drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure electrical designs comply with all regulations and standards.
This position is for a SmartPlant 3D Designer who will prepare electrical 3D designs as well as 2D electrical AutoCAD and SmartSketch designs to support Poland AP1000 Project. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs.
This role will support design development of electrical systems and equipment for the Poland AP1000 project by preparing models, drawings, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. The candidate will work with electrical engineers, junior designers, and other technical disciplines in a team environment with job responsibilities (include but not limited to):
Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews design work within a small-size Electrical design work group on projects of medium size or assignments in support of global business unit
Produces drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing. Ensures Electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of Electrical engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters
Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management
Facilitates technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators)
Prepares or oversees the preparation of Electrical design estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly
Develops Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Bechtel design guides, appropriate Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs) and administrative practices
Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work
Reviews key Electrical engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries
Mentors Electrical designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development
Assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires an AA/AS or Certificate in Engineering/CAD with 10-12 years of experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Must be authorized to live and work in the US without sponsorship.
Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Must be able to collaborate well with other disciplines.
Must be able to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally.
Must have experience with an electronic Cable Management System, such as the SETROUTE program, and be able to input and complete corrections to the database.
Ability to resolve design issues independently and collaboratively with other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.
Ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
Knowledge & application of NEC code and NEMA/ANSI/IEEE Standards.
Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, drawings for electrical systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building electrical systems.
Hands-on and advanced experience using Smartplant 3D, SmartSketch, and AutoCAD.
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
Ability to utilize engineering and office automation tools effectively.
Broad knowledge of the application of electrical engineering design principles.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and layouts.
Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and specifications.
