Oil States is currently looking for qualified candidates for the position of Tool Designer II.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the design, drafting and fabrication of molds, fixtures and tools. Provide technical support to the engineering and manufacturing departments. Design, build, and train employees on process and control systems. Generate process, and safety procedures. Help ensure that Oil States produces quality products that meet or exceed the customer requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Troubleshoot production processes.
  • Designs and details complex molds, fixtures and tools.
  • Checks mold designs and product drawings for form, fit and function of molds and fixtures.
  • Prepare quote requests and select vendors.
  • Work with machine shop and production personnel to insure proper tooling fit and usage.
  • Regularly use mathematical formulas to confirm design requirements and material properties.
  • Inspect received tooling and compare measurements with design drawings.
  • Determine disposition of discrepant tooling and oversee rework.
  • Develop safety and process procedures and assist in training employees on usage.
  • Coordinate work schedule and produce progress reports.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years in tooling or mechanical design.
  • At least 4 years of experience using CAD software in machine shop environment.
  • At least 2 years of experience with SolidWorks modeling software.
  • At least 4 years of experience with basic control electronics and programming.
  • Read, comprehend and follow verbal instructions.
  • Perform basic math skills primarily trigonometry.
  • Basic knowledge of steel material properties and fabrication practices.
  • Interpret and describe technical information.
  • Comprehensive computer skills such as Word and Excel.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work overtime when needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Use of a computer, telephone and other office equipment, including copier/scanner, etc.
  • Prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Frequent walking.
  • Daily climbing of stairs.
  • Occasional stooping, bending, carrying, reaching.
  • Occasional climbing of ladders, high work.
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.

CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENTS -

By contractual requirements this position requires that all persons establish proof of US Citizenship. Dual Citizenship (US citizenship and citizenship of some other country) cannot be accepted. You will be required to provide original or certified copies of documents establishing your citizenship prior to consideration for this position.
