Digital Design & Learning Content Assistant - Remote
The Office of the Executive Secretary is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Digital Design & Learning Content Assistant to support the Department of Judicial Services. This part-time position (approximately 20 hours per week) is responsible for developing visual content for both digital and print media, as well as assisting with the design and production of online learning materials.
The role requires the ability to manage multiple projects, maintain brand consistency, and contribute to the development of engaging, user-friendly educational content for Virginia's judicial system.
Graphic Design & Visual Communications
- Design and produce graphics for digital platforms, including websites and online publications
- Develop print materials such as brochures, flyers, signage, and reports
- Create layouts for presentations and branded materials
- Ensure consistency with established visual identity and branding standards
- Prepare final deliverables for both print and digital distribution
Online Learning & Multimedia Content
- Assist in the development of online learning modules and training materials
- Create visual assets for eLearning, including slide decks, graphics, and basic multimedia elements
- Support the formatting and design of content for learning management systems or web-based platforms
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate content into engaging visual formats
Project Coordination & Support
- Manage multiple assignments simultaneously and meet established deadlines
- Adapt to evolving project requirements and priorities
- Provide creative input and problem-solving support across projects
- Attend conferences or training sessions (3–4 times per year) to capture photos and support content development
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in graphic design or a related field, or currently pursuing such a degree
- Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Strong understanding of layout, typography, and color theory
- Ability to manage time effectively and work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Portfolio demonstrating a range of design work, including digital and print materials
- Residency in the Commonwealth of Virginia
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with eLearning tools or instructional design (e.g., Articulate, Captivate, or similar platforms)
- Familiarity with video editing and motion graphics (After Effects, Premiere Pro)
- Experience designing for learning management systems (LMS) or web-based training platforms
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., ADA/Section 508) for digital content
- Experience with Canva or similar rapid-design tools
- Basic photography skills and experience capturing event or training content
Additional Information
- This is a part-time position (approximately 20 hours per week)
- Remote work may be available; however, occasional travel within the Commonwealth is required
