The selected candidate will provide assistance, creative and technical support, and collaborate with the PR and Marketing Manager on initiatives, projects, campaigns, and events. This position primarily involves planning and executing outreach events by: - Promoting the Unclaimed Property program and services through contacts with a diverse range of constituents, business entities, the media, local and state government officials, and consumer groups; - Increasing citizen awareness of the Unclaimed Property program and compliance rates by holders through events, seminars, webinars, newsletters, presentations, and media campaigns; - Scheduling, organizing, and managing outreach events across the state to help citizens locate and initiate claims for their unclaimed funds as well as processing claims generated during outreach efforts; - Establishing and maintaining communication with consumer groups, media, citizen organizations, business and professional groups to effectively convey information; - Proposing strategies to increase awareness of the annual owner publication and the user-friendly on-line search website; - Managing the scheduling, logistics and data tracking of the Unclaimed Property Outreach program. Train and supervise staff to assist in outreach efforts; and - Assisting the Manager with marketing studies and identifying marketing opportunities for consideration.
The selected candidate will need to possess the following qualifications: • Excellent customer service skills along with strong oral and written communication abilities. • Considerable knowledge and experience in establishing and maintaining media relations, planning projects and events for outreach, as well as developing and delivering presentations. • Must be able to travel throughout Virginia to outreach events. • Proficient in Microsoft Office and PowerPoint, with a comfort level using various design programs. • General understanding of Virginia Treasury's Unclaimed Property Program. • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain contact with various consumer organizations. • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex information and make appropriate decisions. • Must be able to work independently. • Must possess a valid driver's license. • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and endure various outdoor climate conditions.
Additional Considerations: • Coursework in public relations, communications, marketing or related curriculum or equivalent applicable training or experience. • Experience in planning and conducting seminars and developing the associated presentation materials. • Knowledge of Intranet and Internet content management.
