Director of Sales & Marketing
Viridian Staffing is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Sales & Marketing to join an expanding Oregon-based cannabis CPG company. This is a unique opportunity to lead both sales and marketing functions during a period of exciting growth, including a new product line launch and a facility expansion scheduled for December.
This role is a hybrid leadership position, with approximately 70% focus on sales and 30% on marketing, underpinned by strong data analysis and strategy. The Director will oversee a team of about 8.
The ideal candidate will bring proven leadership in sales and marketing within cannabis or comparable consumer packaged goods (CPG) industries (e.g., beer, coffee). While cannabis experience is preferred, it is not required.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership (70%)
- Lead wholesale distribution efforts for cannabis CPG products.
- Develop and implement targeted sales strategies to replace current broad outreach efforts.
- Strengthen CRM usage and reporting, introducing greater structure and accountability to the sales team.
- Provide coaching, leadership, and clear direction to sales representatives and brand ambassadors.
- Drive revenue growth and oversee monthly performance-based bonus initiatives.
Marketing Leadership (30%)
- Oversee marketing campaigns across multiple channels, including SMS, digital advertising, email, and traditional media.
- Direct the creation of marketing assets, ensuring quality, consistency, and timeliness.
- Manage retail merchandising strategies and collaborate with the merchant team on promotional cycles.
- Supervise the marketing design team, focusing on strategic direction rather than hands-on design.
Strategic & Analytical Focus
- Use data analysis to inform sales and marketing decisions.
- Leverage platforms like Excel, Leaflink, and (ideally) Dutchie to evaluate performance and guide improvements.
- Monitor trends in cannabis and adjacent CPG industries to inform long-term strategy.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in sales, marketing, or related roles.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams of 6+ employees.
- Experience in cannabis or comparable CPG industries.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel; familiarity with Leaflink and/or Dutchie a plus.
- CRM implementation and optimization experience.
- Retail merchandising experience highly valuable.
- AI tools familiarity is a plus but not required.
Compensation & Location
- Salary: $100K-110K
- Location: Portland, Oregon (hybrid role requiring local presence for team collaboration and retail environment understanding).
