Staff, Product Manager - Automation Software

The Fulfillment Automation Software team builds and scales next-generation automation solutions across Walmart's fulfillment network. This team owns 3rd-party automation software and its integration with in-house Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) to enable seamless, reliable, and cost-effective operations at scale. As a Staff Product Manager, you will operate as a senior individual contributor with network-wide impact, owning end-to-end product strategy, execution, and outcomes for automation software across multiple fulfillment centers. You will drive alignment across Operations, Engineering, Data, and external vendors, ensuring standardized, scalable solutions that support Walmart's enterprise supply chain goals. This role plays a critical part in advancing automation capabilities, improving system performance, and enabling innovation across a hybrid ecosystem of in-house and 3rd-party solutions. Walmart's Everyday Low Price philosophy depends on operational excellence at massive scale. This role helps make that possible by ensuring automation software delivers reliability, efficiency, and measurable business outcomes across the network.

What You'll Do...

  • Own the end-to-end product strategy, roadmap, and backlog for 3rd-party automation products and software across multiple fulfillment centers, ensuring alignment with enterprise supply chain objectives and long-term scalability
  • Lead audit readiness, compliance execution, and remediation for automation software across the fulfillment network, owning documentation standards, controls, evidence collection, and cross-functional remediation plans; this work will represent a significant focus (approximately 50% of capacity) during the first 3–4 months to stabilize gaps, standardize processes, and ensure sustained compliance across in-house and 3rd-party automation systems
  • Provide network-level product leadership, balancing site-specific needs with standardization, reusability, and platform thinking across automation systems
  • Lead cross-functional alignment and vendor governance, partnering closely with Operations, Engineering, Data, and automation vendors to drive prioritization, incident resolution, audit compliance, and performance accountability
  • Act as a senior escalation point for automation software incidents and systemic issues, driving root-cause analysis, prioritization, and durable fixes rather than short-term workarounds
  • Drive network-wide execution, innovation, and optimization, overseeing deployments, validating readiness, and ensuring consistent execution of audit, compliance, and operational standards
  • Advance next-generation capabilities in Data, AI, and Digital Twins, identifying opportunities to improve throughput, stability, and predictive performance across in-house and 3rd-party automation platforms
  • Lead onsite and remote execution for system deployments, including testing strategy, validation, cutover planning, and post-deployment measurement
  • Define and monitor system performance and stability metrics, translating insights into prioritized roadmap improvements and measurable business impact
  • Influence product direction beyond your immediate scope by mentoring other product managers, contributing to standards and best practices, and raising the bar for product execution across the automation portfolio

What You'll Bring...

  • Deep product management experience leading complex platforms within fulfillment, supply chain, warehouse, or highly automated environments, with demonstrated ownership from strategy through execution
  • Strong understanding of WMS/WCS systems, automation software platforms (e.g., ASRS), and large-scale system integrations across internal and third-party ecosystems
  • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity and scale, managing competing priorities across multiple sites while maintaining a cohesive product vision
  • Experience operating in incident-heavy, mission-critical environments, with the ability to prioritize effectively and drive calm, structured execution under pressure
  • Exceptional cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management skills, including vendor oversight and accountability
  • Data-driven mindset with strong analytical skills and the ability to translate system performance insights into product strategy, roadmap decisions, and operational improvements
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and operate as a trusted partner to senior Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain leaders
