The Principal, Product Manager leads the development and execution of complex product strategies by leveraging data-driven insights and customer-centric approaches. This role involves owning product roadmaps, driving alignment across stakeholders, and managing the full product lifecycle to deliver scalable solutions. The position requires expertise in Internet of Things, technology trends, and business strategy to identify new opportunities and ensure successful product adoption. The Principal Product Manager also mentors team members, fosters collaboration, and promotes continuous improvement to achieve business objectives and enhance customer experiences.
Role summary: The Principal, Product Manager owns the product execution and R&D roadmap for Smart Packaging capabilities that deliver near-real-time visibility, accuracy, and compliance across Walmart's end-to-end operations. Partner deeply with engineering, data science, and infrastructure teams to design scalable, reliable solutions that work in real-world store, DC, and transportation environments. Drive alignment across Supply Chain, Stores, and eCommerce, ensuring Smart Packaging capabilities are platform-oriented and consumable by multiple products and teams. Manage external technology partnerships as needed, shaping product requirements and roadmaps while balancing performance, cost, and scalability. Communicate with senior leadership translating technical progress into business impact and long-term platform strategy.
Proven expertise in product strategy development and execution, including roadmap creation and MVP delivery. Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and secure alignment. Demonstrated ability to make data-driven decisions using product and feature analytics to inform strategy. Experience defining a strategic vision and leading a team to deliver capabilities on the way to accomplishing that strategic vision. Ability to communicate complex information clearly and build consensus among stakeholders. Familiarity with emerging technology trends and domain-specific best practices.
