Principal, Product Manager

The Principal Product Manager leads the development and execution of complex product roadmaps, driving data-informed decisions and customer-centric solutions. This role requires expertise in product strategy, stakeholder engagement, and emerging technologies (artificial intelligence and machine learning). The Principal Product Manager fosters alignment across stakeholders, mentors team members, and champions innovation to ensure continuous improvement within a dynamic environment at scale.

This team leads the advancement of retail search by transforming customer intent into precise product insights. They specialize in query understanding, connecting natural language with Walmart's extensive catalog through cutting-edge language understanding techniques. By leveraging expertise in product strategy, data-driven decision making, and artificial intelligence, the team develops innovative solutions that enhance customer experience.

What You'll Do

  • Drive customer-centric solutions by analyzing needs, optimizing processes, and implementing scalable algo improvements.
  • Utilize data-driven insights and analytics to inform product decisions and identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Communicate product vision, strategy, and progress clearly across stakeholders, influencing consensus and resource allocation.
  • Keep up and guide adoption of new technologies and oversee testing to ensure quality and performance.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven expertise in product strategy, roadmap development, and lifecycle management within complex environments.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision making and product/feature analytics.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders through clear communication and consensus building.
  • Experience in building machine learning and artificial intelligence systems
  • Experience in customer journey mapping, process optimization, and addressing customer needs effectively.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related area and 9 years' experience in product management.
  • Option 2: 11 years' experience in product management or related area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related area and 8 years' experience as a product manager, ideally working on consumer-facing, large-scale, highly complex B2B/C products.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Masters: Business Administration, Masters: Computer Engineering, Masters: Computer Science
