What You'll Do...
Leads medium-sized, cross-functional User Experience (UE) projects (i.e. new check-out system of 70+ pages) to generate the overall user experience solution and deliver usability on product within feasibility limits by coordinating all of the UE (Design, Architecture, Writing, Prototypes) and Research (market and user research) activities and deliverables to plan, test and execute the recommended user experience to the Product Manager.
Mentors Associate Designers and Designers in day-to-day User Experience design methodology and principles by providing guidance on project based design tasks; and creating educational design modules for the User Experience practice curriculum.
Creates the User Experience designs (user interface design comps, visual design specs, prototypes, and other visual assets) for medium-sized, projects (i.e. new check-out system) by participating in overall project design definition activities; defining methods to be used, including competitive audits and secondary research; driving creation of designs, and specs that will advance the company's merchandising, business, marketing, and branding objectives; presenting designs to project and business teams for review; and working with Engineering leads to determine efficacy of given solution.
Supports User Experience strategy and innovation by evaluating the current competitive landscape for compelling customer experiences; analyzing future trends and forecasts in related fields; constructing compelling artifacts outlining present conditions and proposed solutions; and presenting information within and across the organization to gain strategic alignment and encourage change.
Manages project team User Experience (UE) deliverables by establishing and communicating project needs and measures of success to all functional leads (Design, Architecture, Prototyping, and Writing); directing cross-functional collaboration activities; driving the attainment of project goals; creating customer experience scenarios; advocating for the customer in experience workflow; requesting and attending usability sessions; participating in brainstorming sessions; presenting user experience flow and project decisions to all levels of leadership; and negotiating product feature tradeoffs and impact to product development lifecycle with Engineering and Product Management.
Design Research: Requires knowledge of: Principles of research; Best practices of qualitative and quantitative research; Data analysis techniques; Techniques to detect gaps in information; Legal risks, factual errors, and breaches of codes of conduct involving the use of research material; Organizational research requirements; Success metrics for research projects; Purpose of research and how it will be used; Values, limitations, and risks of sources and social networks for research purposes; Emerging methods for obtaining relevant information. To independently propose hypotheses for research. Provide inputs to modify research approaches and execution plans. Guides research processes with inputs regarding type, quality, and quantity of data and information to be collected. Verifies the reliability and accuracy of the information through detailed checks. Detects any gaps in information uncovered and removes unreliable information. Clarifies and resolves inconsistencies in the data of research projects. Analyzes and interprets relevant data for results and important insights. Translates research insights and metrics, including research from other sources, into actionable recommendations that inform design and business strategies.
Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or equivalent in UI/UX Design, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Product Design, Computer Science, Information Technology, Interactive Telecommunications or related area; OR Bachelor's degree or equivalent in UI/UX Design, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Product Design, Computer Science, Information Technology, Interactive Telecommunications or related area and 2 years of experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.
Skills required: Demonstrated knowledge of user-centered design principles and methodologies to create intuitive and user-friendly designs. Experience with design tools such as Figma to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups. Experience with anticipating and mitigating risks during information synthesis and arriving at possible solutions for interactive designs. Experience with defining and documenting design details through process flows, site maps, wireframes, and functional specifications. Experience with using frameworks, sketches, diagrams, user flows, information architecture, wireframes, and prototypes to communicate and validate design concepts. Experience with usability testing and user research methods to gather insights and inform design decisions. Experience with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) to build interactive models and prototypes and communicate with engineers. Experience with building and maintaining design systems, including developing reusable UI components, design tokens, and style guidelines. Experience with managing shared libraries in Figma and ensuring visual and functional consistency across web and mobile products. Experience with collaborating with engineers and product teams to document and implement scalable design standards. Experience with design methodologies that facilitate effective cross- functional conversations and workshops and rapidly building prototypes for testing and further iteration. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
Salary Range: $108,000/year to $216,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
